Here’s the best-selling Dakar pant for 2021. As in years past, two versions are available… the standard pants designed to be worn over boots and also the “in the boot” version (take the link below to see the alternate version).
The standard “over the boot” version works over any type of boot. The pant legs are wide enough for even the bulkiest boots, but Velcro adjustment is provided at the ends of the legs to make them work with any style boot. Also, two inseams are available. The “in the boot” pant comes in only one inseam. Like the matching Dakar jacket, the Dakar pants are lighter in weight and more flexible than Klim street gear. The shell is a combination of sturdy textile materials along with flexible stretch panels in the crotch, behind the knees, and below the waist. LONG zippered vents are positioned on each thigh so you can allow for some airflow into the pants in hot weather.
The leg design of the pant is made special for off-road riders. The insides of the legs that will be against your bike are fitted with black leather. The leather is durable, heat resistant, and helps you grip the bike parts with your legs. And the lower legs of the OTB version have an extra layer of solid textile material behind the black leather which will increase the life of the pant where it gets the most wear.
Pockets are fitted into the standard (over the boot) Dakar pants so you can add armor in both the hips and knees (but are not provided in the “in the boot” version). If you are wearing your own armor under or over the pants (common for off-road riders), you won’t want to add armor, but for adventure riding or just street riding, you may want to add it. Just take the links below to add the armor. Both CE level 1 and 2 units are available. CE 1 armor is called D3O LP and CE 2 armor is called D3O LP Pro.
Two pockets are fitted in the thigh area so you can store your stuff and those zip close to keep the contents in. The waist has a wide comfort lined waistband and on each side of the waist, there are adjuster tabs (discussed in the sizing advice above). Large reflective panels are included on the sides of the lower legs of the OTB version (not included on the ITB version).
The pants are far more sturdy than many off-road pants you see in stores. These are rugged pants that will last. We sell many of these pants to all kinds of riders… not just off-road. :: Paul, 03-02-20
Klim says: Dakar Pants have long been proven through dual-sport, light adventure and trail riding around the globe. These legendary pants have been redesigned with more intuitive features, better mud-resistant pant closures and stronger fabrics. Breathable stretch panels deliver excellent mobility for aggressive riding, and big zippered vents help control your temperature. This all-season off-road pant is equally at home conquering Dakar Rally stages as it is roosting your buddies on an all-day local ride.
