Sizing Information
The chest sizes listed in the chart below are from Klim’s chart and I’ve double checked the actual jackets against the chart and it is accurate. But be careful… while the size Large is exactly what you’d expect with a 44” max chest, the smaller sizes are a bit smaller than normal and the bigger sizes are bigger than normal. For example, a men’s size Medium usually is styled with a 42” max chest and Klim’s medium is a 40” max chest. Same goes for larger sizes… an XXL is typically a 48” max chest, but Klim’s is a 52” max chest.
Given the variation from “normal” for smaller and larger sizes, I’d highly recommend you measure yourself and/or measure a jacket that fits you well (take the link below on how to do that). Then choose a jacket that is big enough for your chest.
Being a classic “3/4” style jacket, this jacket doesn’t taper much from chest to waist, but there are large adjustments on either side of the torso to take up extra room. This will allow you to layer underneath and still get a good fit. The max belly for each size is listed below. Just make sure the jacket size you choose is big enough for both your chest and belly.
Overall sleeve and torso lengths are generous and will work for most average height or taller riders. Those of shorter stature may find the sleeve and torso lengths to be longer than ideal.
Jacket Size | Max Chest | Max Belly |
---|---|---|
Small | 36” | 35” |
Medium | 40” | 39” |
Large | 44” | 43” |
XL | 48” | 46” |
XXL | 52” | 50” |
XXXL | 56” | 54” |
Our Two Cents
The Latitude jacket from Klim is in its fourth generation and is considered a touring jacket. Overall jacket construction is a combination of a Gore-Tex performance shell, stretch Gore-Tex underarm gussets, sides, and back of shoulders for added mobility, 600D Cordura® overlays on the shoulders, perforated goat leather overlays on the elbows, goat leather trim detail, 3M™ Scotchlite™ Carbon Black Reflective Material as well as YKK® zippers (double headed in the front with the front zipper featuring a storm flap for wind/water protection). This combination of materials has earned the Latitude jacket a CE Level A rating. Looking at impact protection, included are D3O® LP1 Level 1 vented shoulder and adjustable elbow armor, as well as a D3O® Viper CE Level 1 back protector.
Moving on to comfort and convenience, ventilation is not an issue with two massive, adjustable, wrist vents with dual zippers, two chest vents, two back exhaust vents as well as a collar tab. Adjustability is also available in the way of adjustable velcro cuffs, low profile in-pocket bottom hem adjustment, adjustable cinch collar, two zippered hip gussets with dual adjustment straps, as well as two quick adjust forearm and bicep straps. Additional features include a jacket-pant zip connection, soft leather cuff and collar trim for additional comfort, a seamless underarm design, as well as a moisture-wicking antimicrobial and breathable mesh liner.
At the time of this review the Klim Latitude jacket retails for S799.99 which puts it inline with many other high end Gore-Tex based jackets and I would consider it fair value considering all of the materials used and features included. Overall the Latitude jacket has one of the most adjustable fits, especially in the belly/waist areas that I have ever seen on a jacket, with the amount of adjustability available, you are going to find the right fit and be able to be comfortable on your adventure. As most Klim products, this jacket is an American fit, so there is definitely more room than in European branded jackets for example. If you are looking for a higher end touring jacket, especially one that is waterproof and American Cut, the Latitude should definitely be on your short list of jackets to check out. :: Damir 7/26/24
