The Mag 2 Air boots from Sidi are new for 2025 and are the second generation of their Mag boots. The air version is the perforated leather version that allows for additional airflow and in years past was also accompanied by a regular, non perforated version. As of this writing, the Mag 2s are only available in an Air version, a regular version has yet to be released (not yet sure if Sidi will offer one in the future).
Sizing feels true to size, I normally wear a size US 12 or Euro 46, I tried on a size 46 (which also converts to a 12) and it fit me as I expected it to. Sizing advice is to get the Euro size you normally wear or to use the provided chart to wear your normal US size to Euro.
Let’s start with the looks of the boot, similar in many ways to the original mag 1 boots, but with an updated, id say almost more modern design, really an evolution rather than a full on redesign which i think is great, to me they look good. The upper construction is all perforated microfiber, there are also integrated hyper density impact protection shields that Sidi says are designed with aerodynamics in mind and to prevent crash tumbling, all while absorbing impacts, we can see those protectors on the shins, ankles, the heel and the toe.
The closure on these boots is what Sidi calls a Nuun 002M dial closure system, it’s similar in function to a BOA system, i.e. you have wires and a rotating dial to tighten and release. Also a nice touch on this closure is that the triangles that attach the ends of the cables are magnetic, making it easier to get them in place. There are three closure points on each boot and outside of this system there is no velcro or zippers. Personally I really like this, it allows for perfect fit and adjustment and when I am ready to get out of the boots I can completely open them and and get out of them super easily. Additionally I have had boots in the past where after a while the velcro gets weaker and starts to lose hold, well again not an issue here with no velcro and no zippers.
On the front there is a good shin protector, it feels comfortable but solid, under it there are arched front bellows, this is the part of the boot that offers excellent movement and makes the boots that much more comfortable both on and off the bike, additionally the materials used here offer excellent airflow. The Mag2 Air’s also feature a shift protector pad and it is symmetrical across both boots.
On the front the toe slider is replaceable, and it has a vent that you can open and close, when opened, quite a bit of airflow goes through it (airflow is definitely not an issue with these boots). What isn't replaceable on the second generation, but was on the first is the heel, so that is something to take note of.
Overall I am a fan of the Mag 2 air boots, so much so, that I just picked up a pair personally to ride in. Overall an excellent boot with many great features and to me again a more modern looking version of the Mag 1 boots. My only gripe is the CE rating, it is 2-2-2-1 which is down from the mag 1’s CE 2-2-2-2 rating, however it is still in line with most current racing boot offerings from competitive european brands. When asked, Sidi’s explanation for this was that they wanted more feel in the boots, especially at the pegs, which is why the last category is a 1 instead of a 2, again this is in line with many other motogp level racing boots and the same reasoning is given, for the additional feel. I am not sure if I agree with that choice but the Mag 2 air boots are still very protective and suitable for both track and street use. Personally after trying on many of our current sport/race boot offerings this is the pair I decided to go with personally as all of my riding is street based (no track time) and I preferred the additional comfort and mobility, off the bike the Mag 2 Airs do very well (for a full height boot). :: Damir 11/25/25
