The Sand series is an icon in the REV'IT! lineup, embodying a distinctive style that has, over the years, defined travel within the motorcycle industry. That legacy continues with the Sand 5 H2O pants.

Designed for the Future
The Sand 5 H2O pants take on a slightly more speed-driven character compared to the outgoing Sand 4. As adventure bikes become more sportive and dynamic, the Sand 5 H2O pants reflect this industry shift. Through this new design, we were able to include drop-down ventilation panels on both front thighs and calf adjustable straps. Higher quality materials are also used to ensure the Sand 5 H2O pants carry you through whatever adventure you embark on.

The Over and Under Concept
We’ve taken our know-how of the proven over and under waterproof liner concept and applied it to our Sand 5 H2O pants. Wear the detachable liner over or under your protective, CE-certified layer according to your personalized preference for keeping the rain away—and keeping you dry. The waterproof liner, made of a resilient 3L hydratex material, has reinforcements at the seat and inside of the knees for long-term durability. Furthermore, to accommodate the over-under construction, the waistband of the main trousers—aka the protection layer—comes with a belt buckle and a stretch insert strategically positioned at the center front of the pant for improved comfort when sitting. The RWL (removable waterproof layer) is equipped with a snap with two-position adjustment. A detachable thermal liner is also included to up the ante on warmth and comfort on cold, rainy days.

Detachable hydratex|3L liner

A 3-layer construction. The membrane has a layer of protective tricot laminated on each side of the membrane. This results in a waterproof and breathable membrane that is also very durable. This type of membrane also offers maximum flexibility, as it can be removed from the garment: wear the membrane inside the garment when the weather demands it, or take it out when you need maximum ventilation.

SEEFLEX CE-level 2 Knee Protectors

Certified CE-level 2 according to the new norm EN 1621-1:2012 the SEEFLEX protector is the latest innovation from the in-house R&D department. The new norm also tests the impact levels in various temperature ranges. The SEEFLEX protectors easily surpass the new norm without sacrificing wearer comfort.

SEESMART CE-level 1 Hip Protectors

SEESMART hip protectors offer the highest level of flexibility while still passing the EN 1621-1:2012 CE-level 1 impact tests, in both normal and hot (T+) conditions.

Laminated reflection on upper legs

Reflection panels ensure excellent visibility at all angles, allowing the wearer to be seen from all directions. To offer a more sophisticated look, the reflection panels are welded to the fabric. This welding process also eliminates stitching seams, making the garments safer.

Laminated reflection at ankles

Retroreflective, fluorescent lamination at the ankles to aid visibility and improve safety in low-light situation.

Long connection zipper

The long connection zipper is the longer, more secure choice of our two connection zipper options. It lets you zip the motorcycle jacket and motorcycle pants together as one. For comfort and for safety.

Short connection zipper

The short connection zipper is the shorter, simpler and quicker choice of our two connection zipper options. It lets you zip the motorcycle jacket and motorcycle pants together as one. For comfort and for safety.

3L hydratex over jacket

Specifically designed waterproof jacket to wear over the outer shell.

Calf zipper for easy entrance

This garment has an easy entrance zipper at the calves to more comfortably suit up despite its snug race fit. Simply unzip for extra room when suiting up, then zip it up when you’re ready to go.

3D air mesh

This knitted fabric has an open, 3-dimensional structure that ensures good ventilation while riding. 3D air mesh is a must-have for long touring riders.

High density polyester 600D

This fabric takes polyester yarn and weaves it with a finer polyester yarn, to create a high woven density that increases protection and abrasion-resistance.

Soft spacer mesh protector pockets

Our Two Cents

The Sand 5 H2O pants from REV’IT! Are an adventure style based pant that is a part of REV’IT!’s sand line of adventure gear. Overall construction is a combination of high density polyester 600D, 3D air mesh, polyester ripstop, and PWR shell stretch. Overall build and design match the Sand 5 H2O jacket. Included protection comes in the form of seesmart level 1 hip armor and seeflex level 2 knee armor, this combination of armor and materials yields the Sand 5 pants a CE AA rating. 

The pants, like the jacket feature a three layer design, first we have the main outer shell, an inner waterproof layer (one that is finished and can be worn on its own or on the outside of the main outer shell), and a thermal layer (the thermal layer is not finished and can only be worn on the inside of the pants). There are two color options, black and silver/black, in sizes from small to 4XL, and in short, standard and long lengths. I typically wear a size XL in REV’IT! So I would say that the Sand 5 pants fit true to size as the XL size pants fit me as I would expect them to (one quick note here, though I am 6 feet tall, I am more torso than legs so I found a better fit in the short length version, for reference I normally wear a 30-32 inseam jean). 

Looking at the main closure it is a zipper with a good size pull tab, there is also a snap belt closure that is adjustable that allows for even better control of fit at the waist. Additionally behind the main closure there is also a gaiter to keep the elements out, as well as both a short and long connection zipper, perfect for matching up to the Sand 5 jacket (or other REV’IT! jackets). 

Other features include hand warmer pockets on each side, they feature a button closure. Then right under the pockets are the main vent openings. The vents are very functional with a velcro closure on top and two zippers on the side allowing the flap to open or close all the way, an additional benefit is that there is a button at about the half way point allowing you to open and secure the vents about half way. When the vents are open, there is a raised mesh material behind them that promotes airflow, and on the left side there is a small mesh pocket with a single button closure. 

There are reflective materials right under the vents (there is additional reflective material on the back of the pants), as well as extra protection from wear and tear at the knees. Additionally there is stretch paneling right above the knees to help with mobility. Looking at the back there is added grip material in the seat as well as strap adjusters at the calves for adjusting fit. The very bottom of the pant legs feature large velcro openings to both adjust fit as well as make the openings larger to easier fit the pants over your boots. 

Overall the Sand 5 H2O pants are an excellent evolution of the Sand line for REV’IT!, a consistent customer favorite, and are definitely worth checking out if you are looking for adventure gear. :: Damir 3/17/25
