The Carlin SK motorcycle jeans have the narrowest fit and - like any other model in our extensive lineup of technical riding denim - are 100% ride-ready. They offer ample stretch properties and therefore provide amazing flexibility and comfort. Although the fit is nothing short of skinny, you won’t see or feel the protection that is added to the jeans.

We use 12.5 oz. CORDURA® DENIM coupled with medium blue wash so they can be combined with almost any color and type of jacket, hoody, or sweater you feel like wearing. Finish with a pair of riding sneakers and you’re good to go. You can wear these on days where you are hopping on and off continually, without changing all the time.

The Carlin SK motorcycle jeans are just that versatile. Go ahead, take them for a spin.

Safety seams

The stitching in motorcycle garments contributes greatly to the abrasion resistance of the total gear. This is why REV'IT! uses safety seams on garment areas at increased risk of impact. Safety seams have a visible as well as an invisible seam. This construction keeps the material of the outer shell together, even when the visible seam is thorn.

Reflection at turn up

This product has reflection at the turn up of the hem to help riders who are on the road be seen in low light, inclement weather, and at night.

Zip fly front closure

“Fly” is the term used in tailoring to refer to the gap at the front of trousers or jeans which may be closed by a zip or buttons. The zip fly front closure on these jeans conceals the zipper, allowing riders to easily put on and take them off, as well as adding a fashion-centric style.

We measured a sampling of these jeans of different waist sizes and lengths and find they are much like other jeans you’d buy these days. They are just a bit “vanity” sized in the waist and pretty true in the length. Across the size run, the actual measured waist was just a bit larger than the stated waist size (about 1” in the smaller sizes and about 2” in the bigger sizes which is typical vanity sizing). And of course, these are denim and may shrink just a tad too. The jeans have SeeSmart hip protectors installed. The hip armor is quite thin and flexible so I don’t think they’ll make a difference in the size choice of jeans if you choose to wear them. So my overall advice would be to buy the waist size you normally wear in jeans; you’ll likely find a fit. If you aren’t sure whether your jeans are vanity sized like I’m describing, then either measure your waist where your normal jeans ride or measure your favorite pair of jeans to verify. You’ll probably find that you measure out a bit bigger than your normal jeans size and also the waist of your favorite jeans measures out an inch or two bigger than their stated size. If so, you will be on track following my advice.

The inseam lengths measured out about right as compared to the stated size, BUT there are a couple of considerations here… first, these jeans come standard with knee armor and the knees are reinforced with a layer of an abrasion resistant material. Those two features add a bit of thickness and when you sit, that means the inseam gets a bit shorter than you might expect. You’ll also want to decide if you want to roll your jeans up at the cuff or not. Many people do, so add some inseam if you want to do that. Also, there is a reflective strip on the inside seam at the bottom that only shows when the ends are rolled. So with those considerations in mind I’d recommend you buy one size longer than you normally wear. If between sizes, choose the longer.

Our Two Cents

The REV’IT! Carlin SK jeans are a skinny fit riding jean that will pair well with just about any jacket for urban and commuter riders.

The Carlin SK jeans are made from a 12.5 oz. Cordura® denim that offers quite a bit of 4-way stretch. The SK = Skinny fit style of this pant means the stretch is going to help the jeans stay tight on the body and is a nice extra level of comfort and flexibility. The pants do taper a bit as you go down the leg. Externally the jeans have the appearance of a typical designer jean with two hand pockets and two hip pockets and a fifth pocket in the right hand pocket for change or keys. There is nothing to give away the protection that lies beneath.

The protection in the jeans comes from that Cordura® denim with safety seams that provide good abrasion resistance for slides. The pants also use REV’IT!’s ultra thin and flexible SEESMART™ RV36 level 1 armor on knee and the SEESMART™ RV33 CE-level 1 armor at the hip. At the cuff, there is a reflective strip on the interior of each leg that is visible if you turn the cuff up and provides a bright reflection to other motorists. The jeans have belt loops so you can easily integrate the REV’IT! Safeway belts (see related products below) for pairing with your favorite REV’IT! riding jacket. These jeans also have a mesh comfort liner through the rise to improve airflow between the jean and the body.

The REV’IT! Carlin SK jeans are a good choice for urban and commuter riders that are looking for a protective jean in a skinny fit style that they can wear comfortably all day. Just remember they are slightly vanity sized and size appropriately! :: Mike, 08/15/2022
