The Hakone boots from Noru are a sport riding booth that come with CE EN 13634:2017 certification and have also passed the optional CE IPA and IPS
angle and shin impact protection tests. They feature a durable and
abrasion resistant synthetic leather construction with dual density
molded and contoured ankle protectors.
The entry is pretty easy with an adjustable hook and loop closure and a long YKK®
brand zipper opening. The hook and loop closure lets you adjust
fit/tightness around the leg and the zipper pull gets attached to it so
it stays secure and out of the way. Additional features include and
additional layer TPU shifter guard, a replaceable toe slider, a reflective panel on the rear and a external high modulus TPU
heel counter which adds impact protection. The boots also feature a
slip resistant sole, added arch support, heel coverage and an internal
toe box for extra toe protection.
Overall the Noru boots come in at a really low price point for a
pair of boots that are CE rated and are a solid entry point for riding
boots. Obviously with a price point this low there are some quality
control issues with things like printed graphics, some slight scratches
and scuffs on the boots right out of the box, but nothing that wouldn’t
be normal after some light wear and nothing that would impact protection
or functionality. The materials, finish and quality control will not be
in line with some of the higher end boot brands but neither will the
price. :: Damir 3/30/24
