* Designed for hot weather riding this is a versatile jacket that could be worn on the commute, around the city or for a weekend blast. The Prospect jacket features an extremely soft, brushed polyester outer in the impact areas, with strong mesh on the chest, stomach, back and under the arms. The Armanox impact protectors are included in the shoulders and elbows. Waist, bicep and forearm can be adjusted to avoid the jacket flapping at speed. With a short connecting zip and European hoop, riders can choose how to connect up and create a better seal between jacket and trouser.

Below is the Merlin-published chest size for each jacket’s alpha size along with our estimate of max chest and max waist/belly. This particular style is a sport/street style so there is only a moderate taper from chest to waist, and with a style like this you can effectively tailor the fit of the waist with the side waist adjusters, which makes the jacket look great and fit great, so don’t worry if your waist/belly is smaller than the max. We only list this for those that have a belly so they can know what minimum size they’d have to choose to fit the belly.

Note: Add about 1” to your chest and belly measurements if you plan to add a back protector.

The Merlin Prospect Air Mesh Jacket falls in to Merlin’s Leisure Moto line which focuses on fusing together protective motorcycle clothing with the latest fashion trends. The Prospect Air Mesh Jacket is designed for hot weather riding and works great as an urban/commuter jacket. Overall jacket materials include Brushed, Stretch Polyester, Mesh panels, Neoprene at the Collar and Cuff edges, and a fixed inner mesh lining. Additionally YKK® zippers are used throughout and you do get a bit of reflective material at the back of the collar.

Protection wise CE Rated Level 2 Armanox Shoulder And Elbow Protectors are included and there is a back protector pocket but the back protector is sold separately. Overall the Prospect Air Mesh jacket has earned a CE Level A abrasion resistance rating.

Some additional features included two lower zipped pockets, one internal pocket, cuff, bicep and forearm adjustments, a zip guard at both the top and bottom, a short jacket to jean connection zipper as well as Hoop Jacket To Jean connecting straps.

Overall the Merlin Prospect Air Mesh Jacket is a solid summer/warm weather jacket that flows plenty of air and falls in a similar design camp as say the REV’IT! Eclipse 2 jacket (amongst other similarly built ands styled CE A rated mesh jackets). In some cases the Prospect Air Mesh Jacket gives up a few features or benefits vs said jackets but will typically save you anywhere from $20-$40, so really it will be up to your budget, color and design preference on which one you go with. :: Damir 4-6-24
