The KLIM BADLANDS GTX LONG GLOVE is the long and waterproof version of Klim’s series of Badlands gloves (I previously reviewed the Badlands Aero Pro Shirt gloves and liked them quite a lot). Sharing many features and design attributes as their short aero counterparts, the KLIM BADLANDS GTX LONG GLOVE is a good looking glove that comes in multiple colors and offers the rider waterproof protection agains the elements while providing good protection as well. Overall construction is a combination of GORE-TEX + GORE® Grip Technology (which is guaranteed to keep you dry), 60 Grams 3M™ Thinsulate™ insulation on the back of the hand, neoprene gasket inside the gauntlet to provide a seal around the wrist, a mapped soft fleece liner on the back of the hand for added warmth, an inner cuff glide panel for easy entry, 3M™ Scotchlite™ Carbon Black Reflective Material for night time visibility, goat leather as well as MULT-E-TOUCH™ precision pads that provide touch screen functionality (which in testing performed well with both Android and iPhone devices).
From a protection standpoint you get a Polycarbonate knuckle guard with XRD® Impact Protection Foam, Ceramic print fabric in the knuckle protection, palm pad and gauntlet cuff pad forearm and finger knuckle area, and a CE Level 1 KP rating. Additional notable features include dual visor wipers with the left being for water and the right being for ice, KLIM engineered rider grip articulation, highly adjustable fit with set-and-forget closure steps on the wrist and forearm, as well as and ears entry assist pull loop.
Overall the KLIM BADLANDS GTX LONG GLOVE is designed for what KLIM calls “foul weather riding” and that makes sense with how well protected and insulated these gloves are. With this being the glove’s second generation, Klim has offered a lot of features, quality materials and protection from both impact/abrasion as well as weather for the money. Yes, these gloves are a bit of an investment at the $250 price point, but you do really get a lot for your money and if you are a person that plans to ride in cold and possibly even icy situations I think that the KLIM BADLANDS GTX LONG GLOVES are worth a serious look. Overall for how insulated and protect this glove is I did feel that it was rather comfortable, warm (my hands got toasty within seconds of wearing them inside), and that dexterity was more than acceptable (some other gloves that I have tried on that were both waterproof and insulated just felt too bulky and like ski gloves, not the case here, yes they are still bulkier in relation to say a racing glove, but considering the use case, they really are not bad). :: Damir 6/21/24
