The Klim Outrider pants have a styling update for 2022 and continue one of Klim’s most popular styles.
To get a feel for what these Klim Outrider pants are all about, think “heavy duty cargo pants with armor” and you’ll get what you were envisioning. The material used in these pants is heavy duty cotton/polyester blend with some spandex for stretch, it’s made to provide abrasion protection that plain cotton just can’t give and the spandex provides some stretch for comfort. If you’ve ever felt the heft of heavy work pants like Carhartts then you’ll have the idea… the pants are much more heavy duty feeling than plain cargo pants, although, from appearances, that’s what they look like.
The pants are fitted with D3O level one ghost armor in the hips and knees. This armor is ultra-thin, breathable, and flexible. The knees have a great adjustment setup… the armor drops in a large pocket from an opening in the front of the pant and sits within a pocket with one hook and loop stop at the bottom. If you need to lower the armor in the pocket you just undo this hook and loop and the armor falls to the bottom of the pocket, about another inch. That means you can reach down while wearing the pants and adjust the armor wherever you like from the outside. The way the armor pocket is constructed, it gives two layers of the shell material over the knee area for improved abrasion resistance in this key area.
The rest of the pant is pretty standard stuff… hand pockets in front with a “fifth pocket” inside the right one for keys or change, patch pockets in back, and a side pocket for your phone (what would be your tool pocket in work pants). That pocket will hold most phones, but the larger like the iPhone Pros are a tight fit. The front pocket that houses the knee armor could also be used for storage but there is a hole at the bottom for airflow so make sure whatever you put in there is larger than that vent! Overall a great, comfortable, and durable pant that “looks” like normal work pants but has the protection you want for riding. And compared to other jeans we sell, the price is very reasonable I think. :: Mike, 08-20-22
