2020 Traverse Pants are an update to the original Traverse from 2017. This pant offers a lighter weight textile shell with a bonded Gore-Tex liner along with knee and hip armor as standard.
The updates to these new pants as compared to the 2017-version Traverse is mainly to include armor as standard. The older style was sold as a “shell only” with the idea you’d wear the pants over your favorite armor pieces, but having good armor already installed in the pants makes good sense for a lot of people, and the armor is removable, so if you want to use these pants as a shell only, you still can.
The overall idea with these pants being a “lite” version of Klim’s more robust styles is the same concept as with the new 2020 Traverse jacket. Take the link below to view the jacket. Like the jacket, the shell fabric is noticeably thinner as well. So for those whose rides don’t demand the most rugged coverage, this might be just the thing. But rest assured, this is a very high quality product. The shell is a bonded Gore-Tex product meaning the waterproof lining is bonded to the shell material which is a premium product. It is a single layer that keeps water out but also breathes well.
CE level 1 D3O brand armor is included for the knees and hips. It is a light and flexible armor and you won’t even know it’s there… until you need it of course. Like other Klim adventure styles, these pants have wide leg ends that are highly adjustable to work over more bulky/tall boots. The insides of the legs have strips of goat leather to give a thicker surface for “grip” with your bike parts and to give a long lasting wear surface.
Waterproof zippers are positioned on the front of the thigh and also the back so you can open those in warmer weather and admit some flow. The waterproof shell is windproof, so in colder weather, you can shut the vents and wear something warm underneath. Night reflectives are included on the sides of each leg for visibility on the street. :: Paul, 03-27-20
Klim says: The redesigned Traverse is engineered to meet the demands of unpredictable weather conditions found in full seasons of dual-sport riding. Redesigned with a focus on increased comfort and reduced bulk, you get full weather protection with more durability than a regular rain pant and less bulk than a fully built adventure pant. The lightweight waterproof pant will let you ride all season long with the confidence to conquer the weather.
