The Icon PDX3 Overpants are a breathable waterproof option for commuter or urban riders that want a pant that is easily worn over their casual clothing.
The PDX3 Overpants are slightly oversized to fit easily over your casual clothing without needing to size up in most cases. The outer material is Hycor™ which is waterproof and breathable. The pants are almost identical to the Icon Mesh AF Overpants other than this waterproofing capability.
The flexible D3O knee armor pocket on the PDX3 Overpant is NOT adjustable. That’s an odd choice since the matching mesh version does have that functionality. These pants also do not have pockets for hip armor. The waist has a hook and loop adjuster at each side that allows you to take the waist in about 2-3”. The closure is a dual press snap with a waterproof zippered fly covering a gaiter. At the waist are two pass throughs with waterproof zippers so you can access the pockets in the garments you have on underneath, these pockets are a little high on the rise for my taste but they should work okay.
From the waist down to the knee on either side, there are reflective graphics for visibility. Down the inseam is a zipper to open the legs up and make the overpants a little easier to get on over your other clothing. This is a little different from the norm on overpants where the zippered opening is on the outer seam and goes up a little higher. These should work well for most commuter/urban riders but if you have big boots then you’ll have to take them off to put these overpants on. A hook and loop strap at the cuff allows you to tighten the elasticated cuff down over a pair of boots.
The Icon PDX3 Overpants are a great option for the commuter or urban rider that wants some protection in a pant that is waterproof. The overpant design means you can easily wear them for a commute and quickly have them off and be ready for a day in the office. These pants will be great in cool to warm wet weather, if you layer underneath they’ll even work in cold weather for some. :: Mike, 09/01/2022
