Use this table to determine what cheek pad size you currently have:
Helmet Size | Cheek Pad Size | Shell Size |
---|---|---|
XS | 35mm | Large |
Small | 30mm | Large |
Medium | 25mm | Large |
Large | 30mm | Large |
XL | 25mm | Large |
XXL | 17mm | Large |
XXXL | 20mm | XXXL |
XXXXL | 17mm | XXXL |
XXXXXL | 14mm | XXXL |
Important: Please determine what color snaps are used in your helmet’s lining before choosing replacement cheek pads. The drop down menu shows each size replacement pad and whether they have red snaps or white snaps.
White snaps were used in the helmet production from the helmets’ introduction (Fall 2010) through April 2015. Beginning in May 2015 HJC changed the snaps to the red ones that are used in the rest of the current line.
Update: The cheek pads with the white snaps are no longer manufactured by HJC and are now sold out.
You can buy the same thickness of cheek pad if you like the fit of your helmet and just need a replacement set. Or you can buy a different thickness cheek pad to adjust fit as long as you buy a pad to fit the same shell size. The cheek pads for the XS, Small, Medium, Large, XL and XXL helmets are all interchangeable since those sizes all share the large helmet shell size. The cheek pads for the 3X, 4X and 5X helmets are interchangeable since they all share an XXXL shell size.
The only exception to this rule is with the 17 mm cheek pads, which fits both the Large and XXXL shell sizes, so this would fit in every size helmet. Wow; could HJC make this any more confusing?
Changing cheek pads to change the helmet fit: To get MORE room in your helmet, you need to buy a THINNER cheek pad. To get a TIGHTER fit, you need to buy a THICKER cheek pad. Example: If you have a size Large CL-Max II helmet, you have cheek pads that are 30mm thick. If the helmet is a little loose around your cheeks, a 35mm pad would give you a snugger fit. If the helmet is a little too tight around your cheeks, you have the option of a 25mm or even a 17mm pad to give you a more comfortable fit.
