Cortech is offering two versions of their Slayer Riding shoes now. The latest version the Slayer Canvas Boot offers an upper made of a mix of canvas and suede. The other, which was introduced in 2019 is called simply the Salyer Riding Shoe which offers a leather and suede combo. Not sure why they call one a boot and one a shoe, but anyway, they are comparable products except for the colors and exterior upper materials. Both styles are available for both men and women. Both the Slayer styles are non-waterproof casual riding shoes. The shoes have reinforcements to make them more protective for motorcycle riding than ordinary boots or shoes. I’m pleasantly surprised with the overall heft and sturdiness. There is plenty of reinforcement over the toe area and around the heel. And like most other riding shoes, these have armor inserts on either side of the ankles, but in this shoe, the ankle armor is large and is pre-cupped to be comfortable. The sole is more “ordinary”, but it does have some sort of stiffening in the arch, where most don’t.
Personally, I like the leather and suede Slayer shoe only because I think the leather over the toe will hold up better than the canvas material on the Slayer Canvas Boot, but neither version has an extra overlay to protect the area like some other similar shoes, so it may not make much difference between the two. Both versions come with an extra set of laces. Overall, these are very nice products for the money. :: Paul, 02-17-21
