Unlike most Alpinestars shoes these don’t tend to run small, I would say they are fairly accurate or maybe half a size small depending on where in the range of your size you fall. The main thing to note here is that the US sizes seem to be accurate, I wear a size 12 US and when I put on a pair of size 12 US they fit me as I would expect them to, but where things got weird is when looking at Alpinestar’s European conversion. Depending on the brand, usually a US Size 12 is a 46, 46.5 or 47 in European shoes, but for some reason Alpinestars has a US size 12 listed as a 45.5. So keep that in mind, had I gone with my typical European size, my shoes would have been too big. So again, get your usual US size and you should be fine.

Our Two Cents

The Stated shoes from Alpinestars are a casual looking, retro street inspired pair of motorcycle riding shoes. Overall construction is a combination of Nubuck, canvas, split suede at the main upper part of the shoe, soft knitted mesh at the ankle collar, and Alpinestars own vulcanized rubber at the sole. The Stated shoes also includes a Transversal Protection frame that protects the foot while delivering support on the footrest without compromising the front foot flex to allow for walking comfort, the Stated shoes are CE certified.

Additional features include a split suede toe box for enhanced durability, OrthoLite® insoles for high levels of breathability and comfort, integrated dual density ankle disks for impact protection and external multi-layer padding for additional coverage. The Stated shoes feature a classic lace closure at the front, with a lateral zipper for a more secure fit and for an easier time with getting in and out of the shoe.

Overall the Stated shoes from Alpinestars easily pass as regular shoes while off the bike, but still provide CE rated protection while on the bike. Granted these are shoes, so they will not provide the level of protection that mid or high riding boots will, and I wish they had a bit more protection overall (the sides of the foot and the toe box don’t feel as well protected as other models from competitors and Alpinestars themselves even) but they are still far superior to riding your motorcycle with regular street shoes. I will also give these shoes a good amount of credit for how comfortable they are, they really do wear and walk like regular shoes. Also the stretch panels around the heel really do add to the comfort overall. At $189.99 during the time of this review I do think you are getting a good shoe for the money, but if you are primarily safety focused, you can definitely do better. The one thing I find kind of weird about the stated shoes, and this has been noted in the sizing section is that I wear a US size 12, and when I tried on a pair of size 12 Stated shoes they fit as they should, but Alpinestars has them translated to 45.5 European, but in most other brands as US size 12 is either a 46 or 47, so be aware. I still got a US size 12 like I normally would, but had I gone off of the European sizes I would have been way off. :: Damir 8/2/24
