The overall fit/size of this new style seems “true” to their published size chart (see below), so if you are comfortable with a certain size from previous boots, then choose the same size. I’d consider the width of the men’s sizes to be normal to slightly wide (D or E).

Our Two Cents

The SP-X Boa Boots from Alpinestars are a very interesting pair of boots. On the one hand they have touring and comfort in mind, but on the other they are a pair of sports boots that feature a Boa system and replaceable sliders.  Who are these boots for? I would say they are perfect for people on sport touring bikes, people who like to go for long distance rides, but still get fairly spirited once the opportunity presents itself.

Upper construction is a combination of advanced microfiber, ultrasoft rideknit material and knitted mesh.

On the lower end we have a TPU heel counter, the previously mentioned toe slider, and the alpinestars transversal protection frame is featured on the sole.

Further touching on protection there are dual density ankle disks, an integrated shin impact protector, as well as a TPU shift pad reinforcement.

Alot going on with comfort and convenience as well, the main closure as I am sure you guess from the name is a boa system, these really are great and make getting boots on and off so much easier, just pull and the boot opens, twist and it closes.

There are also large knitted areas on the front and back of the boot, this will aid with both comfort and flexibility, there is also a pu midsole with a double cushioned heel and a removable ortholite insock, this will provide great walking comfort.

Overall I think these boots are definitely worth checking out as they are both comfortable and functional and I do think they fit a very specific purpose very well. Overall they earn a CE 2-2-2-1 rating which I think is an excellent rating for this level of comfort. Keep in mind there is also a Drystar version of these boots if you are looking for something that is waterproof. :: Damir 8/29/25
