Sizing Information

These jackets are sold in US based “alpha” sizes, so selecting a size is basically pretty easy. The size Medium and XL jackets fit Huey and Dewey, our Fit Check mannequins very nicely! Also, we checked several sizes with a tape. We found the sizing to be comparable to standard men’s clothing sizes. So our primary advice would be to choose the size you normally wear in men’s clothing.

Alpinestars publishes a super-complicated size chart which can be used to pick a size based upon your chest and waist. We’ve condensed their chart down to make it easy to read (see below). You can use this size chart to check your own measurements against the size chart to make sure the size you select will work. Choose a size that is big enough for both your chest and belly.

The max waist of a jacket style like this is only a couple inches smaller than the max chest and the bottom waist band is stretchy, so the style is very forgiving in case you have a bit of a belly.

Our Two Cents

The Chrome Air Sport Hoodie from Alpinestars is new for 2025 and it is the “air” version of their previously released Chrome Sport Hoodie.  Overall construction is going to be a combination of tech fleece, aramidic reinforcement panels at the elbows and shoulders, as well as airflow mesh on the sides as well as under the sleeves. This combination of materials yields a CE A rating. 

The chrome air sport hoodie is available in sizes from small to 2xl, and in my opinion fits true to size. I typically wear a size XL in most European brands, and I am wearing a size XL here and it fits me like I would expect it to. Overall fit is leaning more towards sport than casual as it feels like a tighter or more tailored fitting hoodie, rather than a baggy one. 

Lets touch on some details, this hoodie is tech air compatible if you wish to run an airbag, it has a button at the bottom of the hood around the neck area to keep the hood from catching air and opening up the main zipper, and there is also a button on the back to anchor the hoodie down to your back while riding. Other notable features include two handwarmer style pockets on the front, they are hoodie like so no zippers, but on the left hand pocket it is a double pocket, with a secret zipper that gives you a second pocket behind the main, open, hoodie pocket. 

Obviously this version is called the air so you have massive mesh air vents all along the side of the hoodie, they breathe quite a bit of air. On the inside a few other features to note, there are two pockets, one is a simple, velcro closure pocket, and the other is a zipper closure. Also on the inside there is a pocket for the optional back protector, and there is also included armor at the elbows and the shoulders, the armor is going to be CE Level 1, Nucleon Flex Plus armor.

Overall Alpinestars states that the chrome air sport hoodie is perfect for urban riding and commuting and I would agree with that statement as I personally would like something a bit more robust in the protection department if I was doing anything at higher speeds. With a hoodie like this, comfort, style and breathability are the primary goals.  :: Damir 9/2/25
