The C1 Air Pants from Alpinestars are part of their city lineup and are designed for touring, commuting and urban riding. They have a simple and light weight construction that is breathable and comfortable. The pants do have a matching jacket available in the C1 Air Jacket and both are new for 2025.
Like the jacket the pants are primarily made out of a combination of Tech Mesh as well as 450D polyfabric. Again, that yields a CE single A rating just like the jacket. Starting at the closure, there is a simple zipper and a two button closure, like on the jacket there are some nice touches with small. Subtle Astars logos, there are jeans loops, perfect for connecting to the C-1 air jacket, though I still would have liked to see a short connection zipper. There are two zippered pockets on the front, fairly standard stuff, and there are 450D overlays on the knees for added protection.
Included armor is CE Level 1 Nucleon Flex Plus armor at the knees, the knee armor is adjustable to three different positions. What is missing however is hip armor, no big surprise here as hip armor is not necessary to pass the CE A rating and that helps Alpinestars hit their price point goal with this style pant, but there are pockets provided in case you want to add your own separately.
On the back of the pants there are two flaps that cover simple pocket openings, the pockets are fairly standard sized and outside of the flaps don’t feature any other types of closures. Lastly like the jacket, the pants don’t feature any reflective materials.
From a sizing standpoint this is where I struggle a bit. Since I wear a size XL jacket, you would think that I would wear a size XL pant, the problem is however in trying on a pair of XL’s i found that the waist was quite tight, actually uncomfortable, but at the same time, the length was maybe an inch, inch and a half too long. Like previous Alpinestars pants that I have tried on, it seems like they are geared more towards individuals with tall and skinny figures. Long story short, if you are shorter and have a bit of a belly, you may struggle to find the right size, especially a waist to length combo that works in both measurements.
Overall the Alpinestars C-1 Air pants have comfort in mind both from a warm weather perspective as well as in terms of weight and mobility. If you are looking for a simple, high airflow pair of pants that will work great for commuting and urban riding, the C-1 Air will be worth a look. :: Damir 8/12/25
