The C1 Air Jacket from Alpinestars is a part of their city lineup and is designed for touring, commuting and urban riding. It has a simple and light weight construction that is breathable and comfortable. The jacket does have a matching pair of pants available in the C1 Air Pants and both are new for 2025.
With Alpinestars at six foot roughly 215 pounds I normally wear a size XL jacket, I tried on a size XL and it fits like I expect it to. Keep in mind it's a bit of a sport based cut and Alpinestars is a European brand so it fits on the tighter side. My recommendation here is to get the size that you normally wear in Alpinestars or most popular European brands and to potentially size up if you find yourself between sizes.
Looking at some of the details, overall construction is a combination of tech mesh and 450D poly fabric. This combination yields a CE single A rating. Two things to note, one, there are no additional closures on the collar, just the zipper. Personally I find this a tad annoying as there isn't even a zipper cover and the zipper basically rubs against my neck, I don’t like how that feels. I know it wont bother everyone but I wanted to point it out, and then two, at the bottom of the zipper there isn't any sort of tank protection or flap or anything of that sort, so just keep that in mind.
There is a zippered pocket on each side of the front of the jacket. Pretty standard hand warmer style pockets. There are waist fit adjusters on each side as well, they are your standard velcro pull tabs, and similar adjusters can be found at the cuff. There is an extended lower back to keep you covered when in the tucked riding position, but I am a bit disappointed that Astars didn’t include any reflective materials.
Included armor is for both the shoulders and elbows, it is CE Level 1 Nucleon Flex plus armor, and there is a pocket for the optional back protector. Jumping to internal pockets there are two, one is a simple velcro closure pocket while the other is a zippered waterproof pocket. Both are pretty good in size, allowing my hand to fit inside. Lastly included are jeans loop hooks but keep in mind the C-1 Air jacket doesnt come with any connection zippers.
Overall the C1 Air Jacket is highly breathable and comfortable and would do well in an urban/commuting environment. Alpinestars does trade off some safety for comfort so if you are looking for top safety for highway speeds and above, this isn’t the right jacket. But if you need a jacket for lower, city based speeds, and want maximum airflow and comfort the C1 Air jacket is worth checking out. :: Damir 8/12/25
