Like most Alpinestars gloves, these gloves ran a bit smaller than most glove brands we carry. They are not a lot small and most people can choose the size they normally wear in gloves (especially if a snug fit is preferred). If you are sometimes between sizes, then choose the larger of the two. Hopefully, you’ve had some experience with buying gloves and can choose based on the fit of a previous pair. Alpinestars Andes V3 Drystar Glove
The Alpinestars Andes v3 Drystar® Gloves are a new item for 2021. The materials have been updated, but it is very similar to the original Andes Gloves from several years back.
With this iteration, Alpinestars is using their own waterproofing material, called Drystar®. Alpinestars has worked on this material over the years and they believe in its capabilities. It is designed to give you all the waterproofing and breathability of the higher-priced names in the waterproofing world without the sticker shock that sometimes comes with using that fabric.
The backhand of this glove uses a soft neoprene-like material that covers the viscoelastic knuckle protection. This knuckle feels flexible and comfortable but should protect the knuckles in the case of an impact.
The cuff features dual hook and loop closure straps at the wrist and cuff for adjustability and a secure fit. The cuff should work either over or under the jacket sleeve cuff. The palm is also reinforced on the side for abrasion resistance. There is reflective material on the back of the hand, thumb, and index and middle fingers with will help you be visible at night or in the rain.
The touchscreen capabilities of these gloves are ok but not great. They work fine on Android phones here in the office, but functionality on Apple devices was mediocre. They work but not as well as your finger, so I wouldn't plan on being a text machine on an iPhone in these gloves. They should work fine on a GPS screen since they typically use the same touchscreen technology found in Android devices.
Overall these gloves are very comfortable and will keep your hands dry. They are very competitively priced for a waterproof gauntlet glove with these features.
