The new REV’IT! Downburst H2O jacket is one that you will find exclusively at MotorcycleGear.com. We teamed up with REV’IT! to bring a new option to the North American market that features classic REV’IT! refined style with a new size chart that is more tuned for the American rider.
The REV’IT! Downburst H2O jacket gets its name from a twist on the style it is patterned after. Close inspection will show several hallmarks of the REV’IT! Tornado family of jackets. We thought Downburst was a good twist on the Tornado name that would also evoke thoughts of strong winds, which this jacket is sure to let through the shell for maximum breathability.
The outer shell is a ripstop polyester taken from their popular Cayenne Pro jacket line with large mesh panels on the front, back, and arms taken from the Eclipse 2 jacket line. The result is a high airflow sturdy jacket styled to be an evolution of the Tornado 3 jacket. The mesh on the Downburst is a tighter weave than the typical Tornado mesh, which is something we had received feedback on in the past. The tighter weave looks more refined and still allows the air to flow through effortlessly. The mesh is a dark anthracite color that really pops on both the Sand and Black colorways for a distinct look. The addition of the Sand colorway was another custom request of ours, both the Cayenne Pro and Tornado 2 had this great color and it is missing from the current line-up of Tornado jackets.
The cuffs of the jacket have dual hook and loop closures for adjustment and a zippered opening to make getting the jacket on over gauntlet gloves a breeze. Further adjustability is at the forearm as a sliding strap, bicep as a snap flap, waist as another sliding strap, and collar in the form of a new Flexisnap closure that has been redesigned to hold its position more firmly once you set it in the desired spot. No more slipping around at the collar, and the Flexisnap can also be pinned back to hold the collar open if you desire. The main zipper on the Downburst has a large pull that is easy to work with a glove. We worked with REV’IT! to give the reflective a more stealthy look with this style and it results in a more subtle look in the daytime, but it still lights up bright when light hits it at night! (see our additional photos for this) The zipper on this style is still the standard REV’IT! European zipper (left hand), and the zipper pull is oversized so it is easily worked while wearing gloves.
Within the outer shell is a removable full sleeve 2-in-1 thermal and hydratex waterproof 2L liner that doubles as a destination liner. The elbows and shoulders have Seeflex CE level 2 armor installed, and the elbows are adjustable with small hook and loop pockets within the main armor pocket so you can adjust the height as needed. There are pockets at the chest and back for the optional SeeSoft chest and back armor (see related products below).
This jacket should be a perfect choice for the commuter or touring rider that wants maximum airflow. The removable liner will help this jacket serve in 3-4 season weather as well. And the price point we worked with REV’IT! to achieve allows us to offer this top-tier jacket at a mid-level price. Overall, we love what REV’IT! brings to the table with their gear and we’re proud to work with them on this unique collaboration to offer their products to a wider audience of riders here in the US. We’re excited to hear what you think of this new style, so if you pick one up please be sure to leave a review! :: Mike, 06/26/2023
