The REV’IT! Discovery GTX boots are an update on their previous model that used their in house proprietary H2O Hydraliner. Now you have the performance of Gore-Tex built into a great dual sport/adventure riding boot.
The Discovery GTX boot is the middle child of REV’IT!’s adventure boot line. The top dog is the Expedition GTX, which has extreme performance in mind with it’s Dynamic Support Frame that performs more like a Motocross boot and is slightly taller and beefier than the Discovery. The step down would be the Pioneer GTX boots which are shorter and therefore do not have the shin protection seen here. All three boots use the BOA lace system, which is a fantastic update on the millennia old lace-up technology we are all used to. With BOA you simply turn a knob to tighten or pull the knob to release. The BOA knob on these boots is behind the substantial shin guard.
Aside from the shin guard you also have the normal protection features you expect in a motorcycle boot. There are ankle protection, a heel cup, and a reinforced toe box. There is even SeeSoft™ protection on the tongue so if you take a stinger on the shin that nails the BOA knob through the outer shin guard you’ve got padding to absorb the hit. There is also reflective material at the heel of the boots for nighttime visibility.
Key to performance on and off the bike, the REV’IT! Discovery GTX boot has a Vibram® Apex sole. This sole is stiff in the instep where you need it on the bike. But it also has enough flex that you can comfortably walk around in the boots off the bike and the various tread patterns should help you maintain traction on just about any surface within reason. The boots also look like a normal hiking style boot if you have pants that go over the boot.
The REV’IT! Discovery GTX boots are the perfect adventure/dual sport boot for riders that want something that will perform as well on the bike as at the destination. The Gore-Tex membrane will keep your foot dry and comfortable while sections of the tongue and above the heel will allow that membrane to breathe in hot weather. :: Mike, 07/28/2022
