Sizing Information
We measured and tried on a selection of these pants and the main conclusion was that the pants run a bit small in the waist as compared to Alpinestars’ published sizing chart. The inseams are much longer than represented in their chart.
To help in choosing a size, we’ve developed a chart that shows each pant size and Alpinestars’ published size estimate of the waist alongside our own estimate of size. We’d advise you to choose a pant size based on OUR sizing estimates.
As you can see in the chart, the pants are available in one inseam length, and it is longer than expected. The pants also do NOT have adjustability of the armor height at the knee and the knee armor will be lower than a normal pant due to the long inseam lengths.
Also, the pants have a built in belt to adjust the fit slightly. We indicate a 2” range in our chart which was about the amount we judged the adjustment range to be.
Pant Size | Alpinestars Estimate | Our Estimate | Inseam Reg |
---|---|---|---|
Small | 30-32 | 29-31 | 34 |
Medium | 32-34 | 30-32 | 36 |
Large | 34-37 | 32-34 | 36 |
XL | 38-40 | 35-38 | 37 |
XXL | 40-42 | 38-40 | 37 |
XXXL | 44-46 | 40-42 | 37 |

Our Two Cents
The Ardent 3 In 1 Adventure Touring pants from Alpinestars are a pair of touring pants that were designed to pair up with Alpinestar’s Ardent 3 in 1 jacket. With a main chassis that is primarily made of ripstop with multi-reinforcement areas, a thermal liner, a Drystar® waterproof layer as well as CE Level 2 Nucleon Flex Pro knee armor as well as Ce Level 1 bioflex hip armor, the Ardent pants were able to achieve a CE Level AA rating.
Additional features include the ability to wear the Drystar® layer either under or over, the long connection zipper that is a perfect match for the Ardent jacket, zippered hand pockets as well as zippered cargo pockets, zippered air vents on the front of the legs and exhaust ones on the back, as well as multiple fit adjustment points such as the waits, cuffs and back of knees. The main waist adjusts in multiple ways and you almost get a triple closure since you have a zipper, top button, as well as a magnetic clip adjuster all working together.
Overall at $329.95 you are getting a good amount of pants for your money with some really strong materials, good fit and good overall features and construction. It also helps that the pants as well as the jacket have minimal branding, and where they do have it its done in a clean and not over the top kind of way. Lots of comfort, adjustability, protection and versatility to be had in these pants. Definitely worth checking out. :: Damir 8/2/24
