Alpinestars Venture XT Jacket

These jackets are sold in US based “alpha” sizes, but we found them to be oversized by about a size and a half. That isn’t completely unexpected in dual sport gear like this jacket as it is made to fit over your base layers, jerseys, and possibly body armor. The size Medium and XL jackets fit Huey and Dewey, our Fit Check mannequins very loosely especially with the Super Airflow panel opened up. Also, we checked several sizes with a tape. Our primary advice would be to choose the size you normally wear in men’s clothing if you intend to wear the jacket over multiple layers or body armor. However, if you only intend to wear the jacket over a light layer or shirt then we suggest you try one size smaller than you normally wear.

We’ve developed our own size chart based on measurements we took here at the shop. You can use this size chart to check your own measurements while wearing the gear you intend to wear under the jacket against the size chart to make sure the size you select will work. Choose a size that is big enough for both your chest and belly.

The max waist of a jacket style like this is the same as the chest measurement, meaning it is a boxy fit.

The Alpinestars Venture XT jacket is designed with the dual sport/adventure crowd in mind.

The jacket has a water-resistant outer shell to keep you dry if a quick downpour comes out of nowhere, but it also has substantial venting options. The main zipper has the option of opening it up about an inch with a full length mesh panel that will bring in plenty of air. There are two exhaust vents on the back to pull the air around the body. There are two-way zippered vents from the forearm to the armpit as well.

The collar on this jacket has a 3D-mesh feel to it so it is extremely soft and comfortable. The Nucleon Flex armor in the shoulder and elbows is extremely flexible so you should almost not even feel it on the bike. The back protector and chest protectors are optional (see related products below) or you can upgrade to the Tech-Air®5 Airbag System. There are also belt loops to attach the jacket to a belt in your pants so it holds the back down. The rear “dakar inspired” pocket is massive and goes from one side of the jacket to the other so you can fit everything you could possibly need, and probably plenty that you don’t need, in there.
