The NORU Sokudo Glove is a longer gauntlet sport style glove made of leather with nice protection over the knuckles.
I just reviewed a short cuff sport glove called the Furo glove and
gave it a thumbs up for value and fit, and this one is great too! Like
the Furo, the fit of these gloves is VERY good
for a very low cost glove. So many low cost gloves are cut strangely
and just don’t give the feel of a nice sport fit glove, but these do!
The knuckle armor is substantial and the underside side of that armor is
nicely padded and very comfortable on the back of the hand. Like most
sport gloves, the back of the hand is lined inside with slick nylon and
the palm side is unlined. This is a longer cuff glove made to fit over
sport style jacket sleeves. The gauntlet isn’t armored like with true
race gloves, so I think they’d work under or over an ordinary jacket
sleeve. they do have a Velcro adjust for fit to help with that.
The Furo offered goatskin leather and this Sokudo uses cowhide which
is slightly thicker. The feel is still very nice too. The back of the
hand has venting molded into the knuckle/finger armor and the leather
is perforated, so these should be comfortable in a wide range of temps
from mild to hot (but not cold). The wrist area includes a Velcro strap
to secure the gloves on your hand. Note: while this glove includes
some basic good safety features, please don’t mistake it for a true race
quality glove ready for a track. Consider this glove only for
street/sport use.
I think this glove, along with the Furo, deserves special mention
for value. I can’t think of any other gauntlet glove in this price
range that feels as well built. :: Paul, 04-05-21
