Sizing Information
Held gloves are sold in glove sizes rather than the normal “alpha” sizes you are used to in the US. For complete information on selection and fit of Held gloves please go here: Held Glove Sizing
We find Held gloves to be very consistent for fit from one model to the next and this particular glove model is no exception. Choose the size you wear in Held, or use the sizing advice above to choose.
This glove is available in long and short finger versions (check our size drop down for selections). Short finger sizes have a finger length approx 1/4” shorter than the standard glove and likewise the long version is about 1/4” longer than standard. So now you have size choices if your fingers are longer or shorter than average!
Our Two Cents
The Evo-Thrux II gloves by Held are a sport riding glove that offers fantastic protection features, many on par with race gloves, but for sport/street riders. Premium materials include kangaroo and Aramide. This glove is available in both men’s and women’s size ranges and is offered in standard, long, and short finger versions.
We’ve carried a version of this glove since about 2012 and it is a very popular choice for street/sport riders who want a glove with excellent protection, but without a large solid gauntlet like you find with many true “race” gloves. This glove has a gauntlet that gives coverage over the wrist and partway up the forearm, but it is “soft” in its construction and would be much more practical for everyday use. For example, you could probably position the gauntlet of this glove either over or under your jacket sleeve where a true race glove will only work over a very tight fitting sleeve as you find on suits and race jackets. Also, a “soft” gauntlet design like this can be more easily folded up and stored in a pocket or compartment when off the bike. To secure the gloves on your hand in case of a fall is a small Velcro close strap at the wrist. And then the larger Velcro strap is to adjust the fit of the gauntlet with your sleeve.
The hand area of this glove offers an excellent protection package. The knuckles are covered by a substantial molded protector. And under the protector and the goat leather that covers the rest of the hand is a lining of Aramide fabric. Extra abrasion resistant linings like this are common in race gloves but uncommon for sports gloves. In the heel area of the hand is a large slider made of Superfabric which will slide more readily than just leather if you hit the pavement with palms out, which acts to reduce injury from twisting (rather than sliding).
The palm of this glove is unlined and is made of Kangaroo hide, which is well regarded for use in race gloves. The kangaroo is soft, but long wearing and very resistant to decay from sweat. Nearly all top race gloves offer kangaroo palms. The finger seams are sewn to the outside to make them more comfortable. And a nod to street use is the addition of conductive pads on the tip of the index finger and thumb so you can still operate your phone with the gloves on. Also included for street riders is a visor wiper included on the left index finger.
You can buy this glove with confidence knowing it is a top quality product and will give just about the best sport riding protection you’ll find in a practical package. :: Paul, 10-29-20
