For 2021 Klim is offering an update of their highly popular Induction jacket. This season, they are offering two versions… the “standard” Induction and the Induction Pro (take the link below to view the other). These jackets offer summer comfort with a largely mesh material shell. A full set of D3O armor is included for both versions.
This is the third (or fourth maybe) version of the Induction we’ve carried, and it remains one of Klim’s most popular products. The mesh used in Klim’s jackets feels the most sturdy of any of the brands we carry, but the mesh weave has enough space to freely pass airflow right through. The overall styling and colors are updated in this new version, but overall functionality remains much the same as with prior versions.
So which to buy? Both versions flow air similarly, but the main difference in the standard and the Pro is the overall protection package. The standard Induction offers a complete set of D3O armor including the back protector. The shoulder and elbow inserts are rated CE1. In the Pro version, the shoulder and elbow armor is rated CE2 which is about 50% more “beefy”. In both versions, the areas over the shoulder and elbow armor are reinforced with solid (non mesh) materials to improve the overall abrasion resistance in crash prone areas. The Pro goes further with thicker textile materials in the shoulder area and perforated leather over the elbows. The leather adds a bit of style I think. While both versions have some nighttime reflective strips built into the shell for night safety, the Pro version has more of them and they are larger. Both versions offer standard pocket packages, and both have adjusters for fit at the waist and on the arms.
You’ll find nothing better than one of Klim’s new induction jackets for safety and comfort in hot weather and now you have the added choice of the Pro version for even better impact and abrasion protection. :: Paul, 01-30-21
Klim says: The Induction Pro Jacket is engineered to deliver class-leading airflow for comfort in the warmest riding environments while providing exceptional protection. The upgraded Karbonite™ Mesh chassis is now more comfortable and flexible while maintaining the phenomenal strength it became known for in the original Induction Jacket. Added stretch panels, more abrasion protection, comfort features and extensive mesh coverage make the Induction Pro Jacket road-ready for full summers of riding.
