Klim SE Induction Jackets (Small Only)

FULL-TIME COOL AND COMFORT SO YOU CAN ENJOY THE RIDE

The Induction Jacket was created for motorcyclists who need the functionality of a premium, fully-ventilated mesh jacket without compromising the protective qualities found typically in heavier textile jackets. Constructed with proprietary KLIM® KARBONITE MESH™ Technology which yields a final highly-flexible material that is up to 750% stronger than polyesters used by other brands. The Induction Jacket exceeds military spec requirements for tensile strength and includes impact protection technology with integrated D3O® armor in the back, elbows and shoulders.

Sizing Information

The chest sizes listed in the chart below are from Klim’s chart and I’ve double checked the actual jackets against the chart and it is accurate. But be careful… while the size Large is exactly what you’d expect with a 44 max chest, the smaller sizes are a bit smaller than normal and the bigger sizes are bigger than normal. For example, a men’s size Medium usually is styled with a 42 max chest and Klim’s medium is a 40” max chest. Same goes for larger sizes… an XXL is typically a 48” max chest, but Klim’s is a 52” max chest.

Given the variation from “normal” for smaller and larger sizes, I’d highly recommend you measure yourself and/or measure a jacket that fits you well (take the link below on how to do that). Then choose a jacket that is big enough for your chest. It’s generally OK if the jacket is a bit bigger than your measured chest, especially in a mesh style since the wind blows right through (in solid textile jackets, being oversize is a bit more of a problem due to possible ballooning at speed). Also, an inch or two of room will be welcome if you want to layer under the jacket. Belly sizes are generous, but if you have a belly, you’ll want to make sure the jacket size you choose will accommodate your belly sizes as well.

Overall sleeve and torso lengths are generous and will work for most average height or taller riders. Those of shorter stature may find the sleeve and torso lengths to be longer than ideal.

Jacket Size Max Chest Max Belly
Small 36” 35”
Medium 40” 39”
Large 44” 43”
XL 48” 46”
XXL 52” 50”
XXXL 56” 54”

Our Two Cents

The Klim induction jacket has been one of their best selling products since its introduction back around 2015. It continues to be the one to buy for hot summer weather. We worked with Klim to bring back this second generation style Induction with the features everyone asks for on the current models: waist adjustments, and a hidden passport pocket!

Most of the torso, front and back, is full mesh and so the wind will blow right through. There is even ample mesh on the undersides and backs of the arms. The shoulders and elbows and parts of the waist and sides of the torso are solid textile material to improve abrasion resistance and to give the jacket plenty of “structure”. The shell is heavyweight and has a substantial feeling (as compared to many other brand’s mesh jackets).

Klim gear has plenty of convenience features. This one has plenty of pockets…. two hand pockets in front, two inside pockets, a sleeve end pocket for emergency medical info, a chest pocket with its own little nifty waterproof pouch, and finally a hidden “passport” pocket that is in the waistline of the back of the jacket.

This jacket is easy to put on and take off as the “cut” is casual and easy to wear. The waist and sleeves have adjusters to fine-tune the fit. The sleeve adjusters help to snug down the sleeves and better hold the elbow armor in place. Speaking of armor, this jacket is fitted with a full set of D3O armor… elbows, shoulders, and back. D3O is VERY comfortable to wear and is CE-rated for impact protection. Have a look at our photo gallery. We’ve included a couple “night shots” to show off the extensive night reflectives on this jacket. There’s plenty!

As I mentioned above, we worked with Klim to bring this jacket back to market in a limited run to meet the consumer demand for features that aren’t available on the current Induction models. This style is similar to the second generation Klim Induction Jacket introduced around 2015 – 2016. When they redesigned it in 2018 the main feedback we received from customers was that they missed the adjustability at the waist. With the somewhat boxy fit of Klim jackets, we agree that it’s nice to be able to adjust that hem for a personalized fit. The other feature they moved away from is the “hidden” pocket on the interior of the jacket. Originally this was in just about all of Klim’s gear as a storage option for important papers when on a trip through areas where you might potentially run into less than savory parties, a trip through South America for instance. When they updated the jacket, they took this feature out as they viewed the style as more for commuter riders and a little less for the long haul adventure touring riders. We’re glad we are able to offer this limited run jacket with these great features again! :: Mike,11-10-21

The Klim Induction Jacket is an excellent, well thought-out, summer jacket works well in higher temperatures while providing good protection and convenient features. This has become my go-to jacket when my leather jackets become too unbearable and the Klim Induction jacket is a reasonable, more comfortable alternative. The Hi-Viz color combo is a welcome safety feature. (Read more...)
