The FirstGear Mesh-Tex 2.0 pants are great summer pants. Frankly, I am not sure how protective they could be in case of a crash, but surely they will do better than a pair of shorts. However, the amount of air that flow through it, feels like wearing a pair of shorts. The fit is also spot on as well. Go with your regular jean sizes. The FirstGear Velocity gloves goes very well with the pants; meaning they flow a lot of air and looks nice. The palm area does not have very thick material, but then again not many mesh gloves do. All in all, great products for the summer and after a season with these items, I can safely say that I'd never ride in a tee shirt and shorts again.
