Sizing Information

Below is the size chart developed by Tour Master for this product. We’ve checked these pants against the chart and we find it is accurate, so our recommendation is to use the chart and choose based on the size of your jeans/pants. The waist of the pants have Velcro adjustment tabs which you can snug down to get a good fit. The waist range is an estimate of the range of adjustment. If you are between sizes on the inseam, I’d suggest you choose the longer as I found the measured inseam to just barely be as long as the chart indicates.

Pant Size Waist Range Regular Inseam Short Tall
XS 28-30 30.5 - -
Small 30-32 31 - -
Medium 32-34 31.5 29.5 33.5

Our Two Cents

The Mariner riding pants from Tourmaster are the bottom half of their top of the line Mariner setup joining the jacket of the same name. Overall construction of the pants is a combination of an abrasion-resistant 450 denier Cordura® polyester waterproof/breathable laminate shell with a DWR coating that sheds water as well as electronically sealed seams. This construction has earned the Mariner pants a CE Level XXXX abrasion resistance rating. Moving on to impact protection, that, is provided by the included SAFE-TECH® CE Level-2 knee armor (which is 3-position adjustable)as well as the Eva foam hip protectors (as always I caution against Eva foam being used as a substitute for armor and always recommend upgrading to CE Level 2 armor where possible).

Moving on to comfort and convenience, there are large vertical front and back of thigh zippered air vents for those hotter days, adjustable hook and loop ankle closures, as well as rear calf adjustment straps. Additional features include a full circumference and a standard 8” jacket to pant connection zippers, a double fasten waist belt with hook and loop adjustment, a reinforced seat panel with added grip, as well as a silicone grip inner waistband to keep your shirt tucked. Lastly, the Mariner pants come with waterproof leather inner leg panels, a full length zip out removable thermal liner as well as Tourmasters usual 4 year workmanship and materials warranty.

Overall at the price of $209.99 I think you are getting a lot for your money, just like the Mariner jacket, the Mariner pants look and feel great and have some really nice features and materials, again, like the jacket, rivaling competitors of twice the price. But, like my review of the Mariner jacket, I do have one issue with the Mariner pants, as far as I can tell, looking all over the manufacturers website and the pants themselves I can not confirm that they are CE rated, the armor is, but not the pants. Now, I know that many non European companies simply don’t have their gear CE rated because they don’t have to and because its an additional cost, but in this case, with the Mariner line being their self proclaimed “top of the line” gear, I think they should have. Especially since I believe the materials are there these pants to pass A and possibly even AA. :: Damir 7/19/24
