Sizing Information

We brought in samples of these jackets and measured them and also tried them on our Fit Check mannequins Huey and Dewey. We put a 52 on Huey and a 56 on Dewey (typically they’d wear a 42/Med and 46/XL US size), and the sizes we chose give a snug/sport fit. Both look and fit great (click the “View Larger Images” link above to see).

To help you choose a size based upon your chest and belly measurements, I’ve included the size chart below. It is based upon REVIT’s standard size chart and we think it is just about right. Also we’ve included a waist/belly measurement. If you have a larger belly, you’ll want to make sure you are buying a jacket that is large enough to accommodate you. If your belly is smaller than the max size indicated in the chart for the chest size you choose, just use the adjustment straps to customize the fit with no problem. A jacket like this looks great with the waist adjusters in a bit.

Note: If you plan to add a back protector add 1” to both your chest and belly measurements before using the chart. If you plan to add chest armor, add an additional 1 inch to your chest.

Our Two Cents

The Convex jacket by REVIT is new for 2019. It’s a very well equipped sport/race jacket with robust protection features. It also has unique reflective materials built in for night time visibility.

Have a look at the close-up pictures of this jacket and also our “night shots”. The neat feature to look for is the construction of the REVIT logo on the chest and in the back. It’s formed from a bunch of perforations in the leather and behind the pattern is night time reflective material. Why hasn’t anybody thought of this before? I think it’s really sharp and will look great at night. Hopefully, the approaching cars will think so too!

The armor package is very complete with this jacket. It begins with CE level 2 inserts in the shoulders and elbows and then attached molded plastic sliders on the shoulders. And then you can add an optional back protector and finally chest armor. All that is a pretty complete package. As a comparison, the Quantum Air has external armor on the elbows as well as the shoulders, so the extra external elbow pieces are the only things not included with the Convex.

This jacket could become a very competent 2pc race suit… it’s functional features and armor capability are very similar to race suits. You could pair this jacket with REVIT race pants like the Vertex GT and you’d be there. But practically speaking, the jacket geared for everyday street use too. For example, the jacket-to-pant attachment options are there if you want to zip to REVIT sport pants. There is the short rear zipper and also the all-around zipper to do that. But if you just want to run the jacket with jeans, there is a loop in back to hook around your belt. Another option is REVIT’s Safeway belt which allows you to use the short rear zipper along with riding jeans for a more secure connection (see the link below).

Other street-use creature comforts are the extensive venting and the removable vest thermal liner. The front torso, the neck area and the mesh segment above the elbows will flow a ton of air for hot summer use. And for cooler weather, you can install that vest liner to add some insulation and to block some of the airflow in the torso. If you add layers of your own underneath, you could cover most temp ranges of the year with this jacket (except wet weather… for that, you’ll need a rain jacket over the top). The front has two zip close pockets and there is one inside wallet/phone pocket.

Comfort-wise, you’ll like the neoprene edges around the collar and also at the ends of the sleeves. Those will help with break-in. And above the elbows and behind the shoulders are leather expansion section to help you move around easily. The underarm areas and insides of the arms are fitted with sturdy stretch material, so you have the snug race fit, but still be comfortable.

I think this race jacket will be just the thing for many riders. It’s got all the protective features you’ll need and the styling is sharp and is traditional, but with the extra twist of the reflective perforated logos. :: Paul, 02-25-19

Add a Back Protector: This jacket is made with a pocket to accept a Seesoft CE Level 2 Back Protector Insert type RV (RV refers to the shape). For sizes 46 or 48, choose size 3; for 50 thru 54, choose size 4 and for sizes 56 and 58 choose size 5.

I originally ordered a nice Revit leather jacket that was only shipped in a large mailing bag (no padding). It had arrived with scuffing on the white leather, likely from shipping. I made this apparent to the help desk, and they sent me a return label. (Read more...)
