Sizing Information
We measured a selection of these jackets and also tried them on our Fit Check mannequins Huey and Dewey to see how they fit (Huey is in a Euro 54 and Dewey is in a 58) and they both look great. The overall fit is snug as compared to most European sized jackets we offer. Normally we’d put our mannequins in a 52 and 56.
This product is sold in European sizes. Generally speaking, the US chest size in inches is equivalent to roughly 10 points less than the European jacket size. Example: a 56 Euro jacket is similar to a size 46/XL men’s US size. But since this jacket style runs a bit more snugly, we recommend buying one size larger, add about 12 points to your US chest size to get the right Euro size. I’d suggest you measure yourself with a tape and get your chest size and belly size, then use the size chart to pick the smallest size jacket that will be big enough for both your chest and belly using the chart below. Approximate US alpha sizes are also listed in the chart so you can check if the jacket size you choose is the same alpha size as you normally wear in men’s clothing.
Sizing tips for upgrading armor: If you plan to add a back protector add 1” to your measured chest/belly size before using the size chart.
The overall cut of this particular style jacket is very much in line with many Dainese sport jacket styles. The max belly is about 4” smaller than the max chest which is about what we expect.

Our Two Cents
Here is a jacket with beautiful leather. It feels good and it looks good. Its a fully protective and functional motorcycle jacket, but you’ll feel good wearing this anywhere!
But don’t wear this one in the rain! The finish of the leather has a beautiful feel and look and rain would probably kill it. The finish on this jacket is slightly waxy. The patina is not too shiny, but not a dull matte either. It just oozes expensive. This jacket doesn’t have climate control feathers, so enjoy this one in fair weather in the spring and fall, and you could even go into colder weather with your own under-layers.
The overall fit is pretty snug as compared to most jackets, so take a look at our sizing advice before ordering. But if you get the right size, it feels right. Its a short waist jacket in keeping with a sport bike cut and retro styling. There is a long zipper for attachment to Dainese pants.
The jacket comes with Dainese composite armor in the shoulders and elbows, which is a hard plastic over foam arrangement which is sturdy and impact resistant, but its light too. And the jacket has the dual type pocket in the back that can handle any one of the shapes of back armor listed below. Personally I’d recommend the Pro-Armor G choice but any of the three will work fine.
A great looking jacket with LOADS of style! Even if you didn’t even own a motorcycle, you’d love wearing this one. :: Paul, 08-02-18
Dainese says: The Dainese Blackjack is a vintage look jacket made entirely of the very softest, most sought after, vat dyed waxy cowhide. This jacket is extremely comfortable and features a zip for fastening the jacket to pants, a wide range of waist adjustments and TechFrame liner which guarantee a constant body temperature. In true Dainese tradition, safety comes first and is provided by removable, certified composite protectors at the shoulders and certified, composite protectors at the elbows in compliance with EN 1621.1.
