Our Two Cents
The Held Sambia Pro is an update on one of their most popular gloves, the Sambia. For 2022 Held is introducing 3 variations on this best selling style : The 2in1 EVO GTX, the KTC, and this version, the Sambia Pro. Of the 3 styles, the Sambia Pro is the truest to the original form and function.
The Sambia Pro carries over several features from it’s original namesake glove, with some notable updates. The palm features SuperFabric inserts in basically the same pattern and shape as the original. The Kangaroo leather palm now has more perforations to improve the airflow to the palm and fingers. The gloves have been updated with touchscreen material on the index finger and thumb and it seems to work well on both Apple and Android devices here at the shop. Another upgrade is a TPR pull tab near the cuff on the palm side to help get the gloves on.
Moving to the back of the hand we have a TPR protector on the outer cuff that again is a direct call back in style to the original Sambia glove. The Velcro® closure has been slightly updated to feature the Held “H” logo on the back of the wrist. The cuff is made from the same textile material used on the predecessor and again we see that material on the fingers as well. Breathable TPR on the fingers is slightly updated but functionally identical. The pinky now features SuperFabric and the left index finger has an integrated visor wiper. The hard knuckle protector has also been updated. It now features additional venting to the 37.5® inner lining and an exhaust vent at the rear of the knuckles. There is also an extension over the side of the pinky that is a new one for us here at the shop, we haven’t seen anyone do this before. It is somewhat stiff so it makes the glove seem very wide across the palm, but once they are broken in it should more closely follow the outside of the pinky and offer additional protection.
The Held Sambia Pro is a a great update on a much loved style from 2012. These gloves should perform well in hot to cool, dry weather and in just about any riding style short of track days. :: Mike, 12-15-21
