Our Two Cents
The Held Sambia 2in1 EVO GTX glove is a perforated summer glove and a GORE-TEX® waterproof glove in one!
The Sambia 2in1 EVO GTX glove has two chambers you can enter at the cuff. The chamber closest to the palm is labeled “BREEZY” on the pull tab at the cuff and goes to the perforated unlined palm. This chamber will allow good airflow in the palm and should work for most riders in warm weather. The chamber closest to the backhand is labeled “GORE-TEX” on the pull tab at the cuff and is fully lined with GORE-TEX® to keep your hand dry. Palm perforations and backhand armor vents go to the outside of this liner so you should stay relatively cool even on hot days in a downpour.
The knuckle has a hard plastic protector with vents to bring air across the GORE-TEX® liner. There is also a large SuperFabric® palm slider. Touchscreen materials on the index and thumb work well here in the office on both Android and Apple devices. The cuff is a single adjustable hook and loop strap with TPR so it is easy to get ahold of and adjust while wearing the gloves.
The GORE-TEX® + Gore 2in1 technology is an unique way to extend the capabilities of your gloves. With this dual chamber set up you should be comfortable in just about any riding conditions mother nature throws your way. I was a little worried about the GORE-TEX® liner feeling a little bulky when using the “BREEZY” chamber, but if you didn’t know any better you wouldn’t even know it was in there. I did have a slight hiccup with the thumb being a little tight on one hand when I quickly changed from the waterproof chamber to the air chamber, but it was just a matter of rolling the thumb side to side to straighten out the liner and it fit perfectly.
The Held Sambia 2in1 EVO GTX gloves are a great option for the rider who wants to be able to do it all in what they brought with them. These gloves would be great for a touring rider who might go through the heat of a desert, the cool of a mountain pass, and the rain that usually accompanies transitions like that.
