Sizing Information
The gloves fit true to size and have an “American” fit. They are consistent with the major US brands we carried—Joe Rocket, Tourmaster, Olympia, etc. For comparison, you’ll find an American fit glove like this to be just a bit more roomy than some European brands such as Alpinestars and REV’IT! that typically run about a half size smaller.
Hopefully you have some experience with buying gloves and can choose based upon the fit of a previous pair. If you have no previous experience with glove sizing, go here for help.
Just an FYI, when I tried on these gloves, it took a bit of effort to get my hands inside. The thickness of the insulation material makes putting them on the first time a bit of a chore but I think they’ll loosen up easily enough after the insulation compacts a bit from use.
Our Two Cents
The Icon Raiden glove is perfect for cold and wet weather use. These gloves are insulated and have a waterproof liner to keep your hands dry in rain.
These Raiden gloves are surprisingly well insulated! They are about as “puffy” as any gloves I’ve seen which means there is a good deal of insulation. I’d bet they’ll be toasty on your cold weather riding days. The material of the shell are all man-made. They use a man-made leather and man-made suede material in combination which is sharp and of course, those materials will hold up better to wet weather than leather would. The insides of the gloves are lined with a comfortable fleecy material. There is a buckle/strap arrangement at the wrist to snug down the glove on the wrist to keep it in place. The gauntlet is adjustable so you can wear the gloves over or under your jacket sleeves… whatever works best. Be advised, the buckle arrangement at the wrist makes an unnerving “shriek” noise when you pull the tab and snug them down. I thought I’d messed something up the first time, but tightened and loosened them several times without damage and they work just fine. Just don’t let the noise freak you out.
The knuckles on this glove are covered with a D3O molded protector. Don’t get too excited… it isn’t the most robust thing I’ve seen, but with insulated gloves, many don’t have any impact protection, so I consider this to be better than most. :: Paul, 05-15-20
Icon says: Frozen wet hands can ruin a ride very quickly, but there is a solution – the ICON Raiden™ glove. The durable Ax Laredo™ palm and textile chassis are combined with PrimaLoft® insulation and waterproof Hipora™ liner resulting in a warm and rugged glove. The D3O® knuckle insert minimizes bulk and adds reinforcement while the Hook and Loop wrist closure keeps your glove secure and reflective graphics add increased visibility.
