I've only had the Rainier jacket for a few rides but I think I can make some constructive comments for shoppers. First of all, it's a great looking jacket and not quite as storm trooper looking as some jackets out there. The fit is nice, though snug. I would suggest ordering a size up over other FG products. I've always worn a LG in their products but this one I got an XL and I'm certain I would not want to go any smaller. I'm 6'-1" 190lbs, 42" chest and 36" waist and the XL feels just right to me. The sleeves are quite narrow so if you're a muscle man you may want to keep shopping. I have thin arms and the sleeves barely leave room for extra layers. The fact that the shell is noticeably softer than other products on the market makes the snug fit a little more forgiving. In my somewhat limited experience with this jacket, though having owned many comparable models, I would say this jacket does its best between 40 and 75 degrees. If you go much colder you will want more layers as the liner does not provide the same level as warmth as a thicker quilted style liner would. And if you go much warmer you can plan on sweating a bit. The sleeve vents are pretty nice but I find the chest vents are prone to closing when you're arms are up in riding position...which is where I like to keep them. Having said that, the venting is much better than other jackets I've owned. The liner is very nice and is indeed a stand alone product. Most liners I've had tend to not get used for various reasons, just using a fleece in place of it. I'm sure this one will get a lot of use. I can't speak to the water proof rating but I have no doubt it performs as advertised. I'm looking forward to many years with this jacket, no regrets!
