Sizing Information
These boots are sold in U.S. men’s sizes. We’ve tried on a selection of sizes and think this boot runs true to a US shoe size. The width is generous, we think D or E. These boots have a pronounced arch support which I really like and find to be very comfortable, but if you can’t tolerate a significantly contoured insole, then you might not get along with this one too well.
Our Two Cents
The Klim 2021 Outlander GTX Boot is an update from their similar boot from 2018. People who ride daily for pleasure or work may want a compatible boot with your ADV bike, but they don’t want to deal with tall, heavy ADV specific boots every day. The Outlander GTX is rugged, but also workable for wear off the bike.
This new Outlander has many of the same key features as the previous model, but they’ve rebuilt the toe box to be more conventional looking (not asymmetrical as before), and the armor on the sides of the ankles and the top of the foot is now more “padding” than hard armor, but I think is welcome in the boot that can be used for every day walking around. These boots now look very conventional under your jeans and I think after some breaking in of the leather, you’ll find them very comfortable.
The sole design is much like other ATV style boots… the tread is aggressive and there is significant stiffness in the sole to hold up to adventure style riding where the rider often puts their body weight on the pegs. They won’t “fold up” like regular shoes or boots.
This new style retains the same GoreTex waterproof liner system to keep you dry and uses much of the same high quality materials on the upper.
I’m a fan of the closure system on this boot! We’ve seen other styles with this closure and it is just so easy and fast to work with. No laces… just pop your foot in the boot, snap down the knob on the tongue and give it a twist or two to tighten down the laces to your taste. The laces are coated wires that slide in the guides attached to the boot’s upper, and they won’t pop out of their guides, so you never have to re-fish those back into place. It’s such a pleasure to not have to re-lace boots every time to put them on. I appreciate having 15 seconds of my life back every day! I personally like the updates to the 2021 version of this boot. :: Paul, 01-26-21
