Sizing Information

We tried on a selection of sizes in this boot and found it to fit us just about right as compared to the stated size, so I’d advise you to buy the size you normally wear in men’s street shoes. If you are between sizes, I’d recommend the small since the toe box is quite roomy.

I’d estimate the width as “D” or “E” which is a touch wider than the average shoe. The boots lace up, so there is a lot of adjustability for fit as long as the length is right.

Our Two Cents

The Icon Tarmac Waterproof Boot is a hiker-style lace up boot that is fitted with motorcycle protection features. The boots are light and comfortable too.

First of all, this is the first time I’ve ever heard of TecTuff® Leather Upper, so a quick Google search educates me a little bit. It is a leather material that is coated with a special substance that improves its abrasion resisting characteristics and improves water repellency (among other seemingly magical things). Apparently, this treatment can be used with a variety of materials is most often used for sports and work gear. Sounds good to me.

I’ve got the Tan boot here on my feet and I like the color. It’s really more of a light yellow with black and white accents. It’s different. I’m struck by the overall lightweight here, and the boots are comfortable too. The neck is well padded as is the insole, and after just a few minutes, I feel like I could wear them the rest of the afternoon.

As for protection, the boots have an internally stiffened sole which has a pretty tough feeling tread on it. But it is reasonably smooth so it will work with most any type of bike. The heel area is very well reinforced and the toe box is less stiff but feels OK. The leather extends over the toe of the boot where your shifter will hit. Up near the neck, the boot has a couple D2O armor inserts over each ankle bone.

The boots are made waterproof with an internal waterproof/breathable layer. The tongue is attached to the upper up to about midway up the laces so don’t step in water more than a couple inches deep or it will come over the top and inside. Likewise, make sure your waterproof pant gives you enough coverage to keep water from coming inside from the top as well.

I personally like this boot and I’d consider a pair for myself. :: Paul, 03-08-21
