Icon Slabtown WP Boot
Named after our home district in Oregon, the Slabtown boot is a worthy homage to our aggressive street-riding roots. Built from full-grain leather upper with motocross inspired closures, it is tested & certified to CE standards. The eVent waterproof/breathable lining, when combined with the Oil & Slip-resistant outsole, makes it perfect for all-season riding. Sizing Information
My impression was that this boot is a “D” or medium width and the length is generally true to the stated size. Icon usually has a generous sized toe box and that is true on this style as well. The boot has two adjustment straps on the side that are adjustable to get a snub fit.
Our Two Cents
The Icon Slabtown WP Boots are a more commuter styled version (IMO) of the popular Icon El Bajo 2 Boots.
I say that because the materials here have more of a suede finish in most of the boot and it looks more like a traditional sneaker under a pant leg. The buckles on the Slabtown WP are motocross inspired like the Bajo 2, but on the Slabtown they are modeled after modern motocross with a traditional clip closure vs the retro buckle and push through clasp system of the Bajo 2. That easier system means more flexibility in adjustment and easier on/off of the boot, so the Slabtown only has the two buckles and doesn’t need the medial side zip that makes the Bajo 2 useable. My only call out is the buckles are plastic with metal bars. These metal bars clip into the female side of the buckle but you have to make sure the one closest to the front of the boot clips in firmly before trying to pivot it closed.
The toe box is outlined with a reinforced lip. The top of the toe box has a ribbed reinforcement patch for shifting. There are D3O ankle inserts for protection with an eternal TPR malleolus protector. The boots have a stiff oil and slip resistant sole that flexes right around the ball of the foot so walking is comfortable. There is also a reflective strip on the rear of the boot for some nighttime visibility. The internal lining is an eVentĀ® waterproof/breathable membrane that is very plush against the lower leg and foot. This will keep you dry in a sudden shower as long as your pants legs keep water out of the top of the boots.
The Icon Slabtown WP boots are a good short boot style for commuter or cruiser riders. As long as you take care to seal around the top of the boot cuff they’ll work well in cold to warm, dry or wet conditions. :: Mike, 11/03/2022
