Sizing Information

This boot is offered in “regular” widths and also wide sizes. The “regular” is a D width approximately. If you sometimes have trouble with regular shoes being too narrow definitely go with the wide version. If you are between sizes, choose the next larger. I generally wear a D or “regular” and found them to be a good fit in my normal size.

The wide selections offer a wider foot bed and will accommodate those who need wider than the “D” width. I’d guess the width of the wide sizes to be E. Be advised though, the ankle and calf areas of the boot aren’t over-sized, so if you have and high instep and/or large calves, the wide version may not work.

Our Two Cents

The Helix line of boots from Tourmaster come in three different versions, the “regular”, the waterproof and the vented, all three boots are fairly similar with the main differences being the variation. Here is our two cents for the vented version, it still closely applies to the regular and waterproof versions:

The Helix Vented boots from Tourmaster are a pair of mid-height touring boots designed for warm weather riding. Overall construction is a combination of microfiber, Tourmaster proprietary Instep and heel TPR flex panels, YKK® brand zippered main closure, super fabric (located at the heal for added abrasion resistance), a breathable internal liner that helps with cooling and a single-density non-slip sole. This construction earns the Helix Vented boots a Level 2 CE rating.

Additional protection comes with the addition of dual-density, molded ankle protectors as well as internal toe box protection. To further aid in comfort, the Helix vented boots feature Armanox® reactive foam insoles, perforation throughout the boot, easy entry with a hook and loop secondary closure, as well as a ergonomic TPU shifter guard. Like most Tourmaster boots, the Helix vented boots come with a 4 year workmanship and materials warranty.

Overall at the price of $139.99 you are getting a solid warm weather boot for the money and they are hard to argue with at that price point, with that said though as you add on the dollars you can see why other boots are more expensive as they start to improve on materials, fit and finish. Personally other offerings from Tourmaster such as their Highlander Adventure boots I feel like I am getting a steal for the money, with these not so much, I more feel like I am getting what I paid for. Not saying they are bad boots, just that they don’t have the same wow factor. I would see myself paying $70-$100 more and getting a higher step pair of boots. Also a thing to note about sizing, I could wear my usual 46 or 47 size (USA size 12) but the front of the boot did seem a tad narrow, especially around the beginning of my toes. I would say worth checking out if you are on a budget, but also worth looking at other options if your budget allows for it. :: Damir 7/19/24
