Our Two Cents
The ZED air riding shoes from Stylmartin are a street/casual style of riding shoe that are designed to look good both on and off the bike while still providing you with protection while riding. The ZED arid shoes come in one color, grey and have a suede like look and feel for the majority of the shoe. Overall construction is a perforated suede leather, with a full grain leather collar, a rubber tread outsole made by Michelin with an EVA Midsole, as well as an Anatomic, replaceable and perforated anti-shock cushioning insole.
From a protection standpoint the ZED shoes feature a molded PU and D30 protective ankle insets that are featured on both sides of the ankle, as well as reflective inserts on the upper ankle to ensure night time visibility. Additional features include internal zip and reflective laces, special grip soles, perforations for airflow on the outside of the shoe, as well as a CE Level 1 certification.
Overall the ZED has a cool look, it is a cross between a high top sneaker and a short hiking boot and could fit multiple styles of riders and motorcycles. I appreciate the zipper opening as it makes getting in and out of the boots much easier and overall I felt that the boots were comfortable and not too heavy in my time wearing them. One thing I noted immediately in putting them on while standing on a laminate floor is just how grippy the soles were, while standing my usual pair of Vans could slide back and forth on the floor, but I couldn’t get the ZED shoes too budge, so hopefully that gives you and idea on the level of grip. One final note is on sizing, the Stylmartin size chart is pretty spot on for most sizes, but I did notice that I was comfortable in a size 45 (normally I wear a 46 or 47 in other European brands, and the 45 translates to a 11.5 US on their size chart, but I wear a size 12 US in most shoes), so something to note. I would say follow the size chart and if you find yourself somewhere between sizes go with the smaller size. :: Damir 6/15/24
