Sizing Information
We tried on our respective sizes in this boot and we think the length is true to the stated size. And we estimate the width to be “D” or medium width. A rugged boot like this is sometimes overly roomy where your foot might “rattle around” inside, but I thought these boots fit very well. The calf part of the boot is somewhat adjustable with the side buckles… +/- about 1/2 inch, which for a calf measurement is quite a lot. I have average-to-larger calf sizes and the boots fit me just fine in the middle position, so with the adjustment, I think they will fit almost anybody.
Our Two Cents
The Icon Elsinore 2 CE Boot is actually the fourth version of this boot we’ve sold. The first came out in 2012 and actually looked very similar to this one, the second version was a chrome shin plated version called “1000 Elsinore HP” in 2015, 2021 saw the Icon Elsinore 2 boot that was new and improved, but slightly more subtle and finally this Elsinore 2 CE boot, which is functionally identical to the first Elsinore 2, only now it has passed the CE testing and has internal tags to verify. Since these boots are the same as the original Elsinore 2 with a CE rating I’ve copied our review of those boots here:
I think Icon has done very well with this latest design. It really captures the retro style of a vintage motocross boot, but without all the bling of the last version. This is a heavy duty leather boot made of quality materials, and frankly, I’m surprised Icon can offer it at such a reasonable price.
The best part of this design is the full side zipper for easy entry. Imagine if you had to unbuckle all that hardware every day? But with the side zipper, it’s easy… just set the buckles once to suit your ankle and calf size and forget them. With the side zipper, you’ll be able to put them on and take them off in seconds. About setting the buckles, here’s a tip: when you want to set the size and reposition them on the center pegs, twist the leather out of the side retainers first before you attempt to pull the buckle loose from the center peg. If you try to pull the buckle off the center peg first, you’re in for an embarrassing fail!
The soles of this boot are very rugged and have an internal shank. The toe box and heel are reinforced and there is a firm shin plate. Each ankle bone gets an internal protector over it, which are quite comfortable. If you take the “View Larger Images” link above you can check out the height of the tops and soles.
I’m always a fan of quality and function, and even though the overall styling of this boot is the star of the show, you still get a very well made functional boot. Get a pair for your inner Mad Max! :: Paul, 04-19-21
