Sizing Information
We tried on a selection of Forma boots here in the office and found the length to be about right. The width on the boots is a touch more wide than most other brands we carry. Alpinestars and TCX tend to be the most wide, but these might even be a touch wider. I’d say they are a D to E and might even work for somebody with a slightly wider foot (but don’t get carried away and think they are wide enough for a person needing a EEE or wider). So my advice would be to use the chart below to choose a size based upon your US shoe size.
Forma offers advice on choosing a size from your foot measurement. Here’s how:
1) Measure the overall length of your foot. Forma recommends placing your heel against a wall and measuring from the wall to the end of your longest toe.
2) Add 3/4” to the length of your foot
3) Using Forma’s sizing chart below, choose the smallest size boot with an insole measurement that is at least the length of your foot plus 3/4”.
Use Forma’s size selection method as a “second opinion”. Maybe you’ll find it reassuring if it matches your size choice based on street shoe size or, maybe it could be a tie breaker if you are undecided between two sizes. FWIW, Forma’s advice didn’t work for me since I have relatively short toes. I wear a 45 (known from trying on) and this method put me in a 42.

Our Two Cents
The City Dry Shoe from Forma is a casual, urban style riding shoe that will look good both on and off the bike and can easily pass for a regular shoe while providing you with motorcycle riding safety and a waterproof design. Overall construction of the City shoe is a combination of a full grain leather upper section, a personalized Forma double density rubber sole, a padded tongue and collar for extra comfort, a personalized Forma Drytex tubular lining which is waterproof and breathable, a soft polymer padding with memory foam as well as an Anti-bacterial replaceable footbed with A.P.S. (Air Pump System, The A.P.S. system is basically a system that circulates air throughout the boot as your body weight squishes it down, though it might sound kind of like a marketing ploy, we have seen plenty of reviews and have gotten feedback from customers that it does in fact make a difference in keeping your boots fresher during longer rides). For protection the City shoes feature a personalized plastic heel cup, a zip and lace closure with reinforced eyelets, both rear and side reflective inserts, TPU molded plastic ankle protectors, reinforcements in both the heel and the toe areas, as well as a PP mid Dual Flex with Anti-shock EVA midsole. Overall this combination of materials and protection features resulted in a 1-2-2-2 WR CE rating.
The City shoes come in either a black or brown color way, feature a shifter area reinforcement and are considered a casual fit. Average weight per boot is 2 pounds and at the time of this write up they retail for $199.00 and come with a one year warranty. The City boots Forma calls a “nice compromise between safety and fashion” and I have to agree with that statement as they are good looking shoes with protective properties but obviously not so far on the side of protection that they become full boots or bulky. Overall at their price point they are hard to argue against. And speaking of protection a 1-2-2-2 WR rating is nothing to sneeze at, basically top marks in all but one category while looking this good and casual, really hard to beat. Overall the City boots were comfortable and fit as expected, I tried on my usual size US 12 and absolutely no issues.
A couple of design items to note, the leather/colors looks great in real life, the soul and laces look like they have been pre-dirtied or designed to look dirty so you don’t notice the eventual marks and scuffs that I am sure you will see after a few rides. Honestly at the price point and in general these are great, my only nitpick is that I wish they had a pull tab on the back, above the heel, would make it just a tad easier to get in and out of, other than that, really no complaints.
I want to point out real quick that previously my experience with Forma wasn’t as extensive as some of the other brands that I would consider myself somewhat of an expert in, so I sat down and checked out a good number of Forma boots and shoes in a row, all of different styles and types, and shoe after shoe, boot after boot, I was impressed, it was like Forma just couldn’t miss. I’m quickly familiarizing myself more and more with this brand and I have to say they are quickly rising up my list of favorite boot/shoe brands. Really great work here, and if you are not familiar with them yet, I highly recommend checking them out! :: Damir 8/22/24
