Sizing Information

Unlike most Alpinestars shoes these don’t tend to run small, I would say they are fairly accurate or maybe half a size small depending on where in the range of your size you fall. The main thing to note here is that the US sizes seem to be accurate, I wear a size 12 US and when I put on a pair of size 12 US they fit me as I would expect them to, but where things got weird is when looking at Alpinestar’s European conversion. Depending on the brand, usually a US Size 12 is a 46, 46.5 or 47 in European shoes, but for some reason Alpinestars has a US size 12 listed as a 45.5. So keep that in mind, had I gone with my typical European size, my shoes would have been too big. So again, get your usual US size and you should be fine.

Our Two Cents

The Oscar Monty V2 boots from Alpinestars are a leather riding boot that pull from the timeless stye of 60’s era boots. Alpinestars has a heritage line or brand that they call OSCAR by Alpinestars and these Monty boots are a part of that line. Overall construction is a combination of primarily full 1.4-1.6mm bovine leather, hidden medial side zippers for easy on and off, elasticated panels on the tongue to receive and safely store lace loops. Additionally the Monty V2 boots feature a reworked outsole compound that is guaranteed to provide optimal grip.

Additional features include dual density ankle medial protectors and external cup to protect against impacts, a reinforced heel counter and toe box for additional strength. The protective ankle discs are integrated into each elastic band and both the lateral and medial side have been engineered to different heights in order to better cover the malleolus. The overall height of the shoes are engineered to better cover the ankle overall. The Monty V2 boots are CE rated for motorcycle riding protection while still maintaining walking comfort.

Overall this is a really good looking boot/shoe, I really appreciate the classic leather look and the brown color way is quite nice. Additionally the leather itself is really good looking as well. If you are a cruiser rider, cafe or retro rider these can really look good on your bike. Also I mentioned earlier the stretchy panels on the tongue, a really cool design on Alpinestars part, I really wish more shoes/boots had this, a really simple and neat way to tuck your laces so they don’t become a hazard. As a whole I believe that a pair of normal street shoes that looked this good would most likely coast around $200 so to get these as CE certified Moto boots I think their price of $269.95 at the time of this review is more than fair. This kind of riding style/gear really isn’t my style, and yet I think these boots looks so good that I would consider them, I think that says a lot about how they look and feel. The only thing I find kind of weird with them, and this has been noted in the sizing section is that I wear a US size 12, and when I tried on a pair of size 12 boots they fit as they should, but Alpinestars has them translated to 45.5 European, but in most other brands as US size 12 is either a 46 or 47, so be aware. I still got a US size 12 like I normally would, but had I gone off of the European sizes I would have been way off. :: Damir 8/2/24
