Sizing Information

We measured and tried on a selection of these pants and we developed a size chart to help you choose a size based upon your waist and inseam. The size chart below is partially ours and partially REV’IT’s chart. REV’IT hasn’t been consistent in their sizing for pants, so we have to check every model for you. The largest waist size listed in the chart are with the waist adjusters full open. The waist size adjustment straps work pretty well to give you size adjustability… we estimate about 2” as the range indicates.

As you can see in the chart, the pants are available in regular, short and tall inseam sizes, so choose the inseam you normally wear in slacks or jeans. The pants also have adjustability of the armor height (independent of inseam length) which can be accessed by pulling each leg inside out (see our photo gallery for a pic of this). Velcro allows you to set the armor in different spots and you can check how the armor feels on your knee when you are sitting on the bike and decide which position seems best.

Pant Size Waist Range Inseam Reg Inseam Short Inseam Tall
Small 28-30 33 31 -
Medium 31-33 33 31 35
Large 34-36 34 32 36
XL 37-39 34 32 36
XXL 40-42 34 32 36
XXXL 42-44 35 32 -
XXXXL 44-46 35 - -

Measurement tip: With a style like this that MAY be used as an overpant, you’ll want to measure your waist over the clothing you intend to wear under the pants. And measure yourself fairly high up the waist because protective style pants like this are cut to ride higher on your waist than a lot of modern jean styles (so relying just upon the size jeans you buy might result in motorcycle pants that are too small). Right below the navel is about the right height on the waist for measurement.

Our Two Cents

The Sand 4 pants by REVIT are new for 2021. They’ll complete an outfit when paired with the new Sand 4 jacket, but they’ll also work with any riding jacket. These pants come with a removable waterproof liner and a removable thermal liner too. They have venting features and armor included for the knees and hips as standard. Both men’s and women’s styles are available, so take the link below to view the other gender.

The Sand 4 pants share a design script with the Sand 4 jackets. The pants are the latest iteration of the Sand design which has been around for several years now. And this year, for the first time, ladies’ sizes are available. Here’s a bit about the Sand jacket and pant lineup from my review of the jacket: The Sand series of jackets and pants have been so popular over the years because of the climate versatility and ruggedness… all for “not a lot of money”. And I’m speaking relative to higher-end jackets/pants that can cost twice as much. Both REVIT and Klim come to mind when you talk about premium gear like this, and both brands make excellent products. The construction approach to climate control and waterproofing is what makes the Sand 4 an affordable option. Higher priced gear typically uses a “bonded” type shell where the waterproofing layer is bonded to the shell material and is most commonly a Gore-Tex branded product. The Sand jacket and pants rely on a textile shell supplied with a detachable waterproof jacket for use in wet weather and it also has a detachable thermal layer too.

Armor for the pant knees is the same CE2 Seeflex armor as found in the jacket, and for the hips, you get CE1 SeeFlex style. The thinner and more flexible SeeFlex armor is great for the hip area since it has to flex and be comfortable for you when seated. The only optional item for the pants is REVIT’s Suspender package (take the link below to view). The pants have both a short rear and all around zipper for mating to REVIT jackets, but if you don’t have a REVIT jacket, the suspenders are a nice way to go. Personally, I’m a suspender fan, especially when it comes to motorcycle pants with armor to hold them up comfortably when off the bike without having the waistband tight.

You’ll find excellent climate controls with this pant. For the wet and/or cold weather, you can use the removable liners (already mentioned), and for summer, you can let some air flow through with the venting feature. Directly on the front of each thigh is a vertical zipper. Behind that zipper is a larger mesh panel. Part of that opening has a pair of snaps you can engage to “prop open” the vent so that it catches a lot of air. It’s hard to describe in words, but it is definitely better than a plain zip vent. These pants will work VERY well in wet and in temps from cold to warm. The zip venting will help with hot weather, but very hot temps will become uncomfortable. So overall, I’d say 3 to 3.5 seasons of comfort, which is really good for a single garment.

Other things to note: Ample reflective strips front and sides for night visibility; highly adjustable leg opening to suit your boot style, with a wide enough design to accommodate taller adventure style boots; Adjusters for the waist and also below the knee (strap/buckle around the back); Heavier fabrics on the seat and knees; Large patch pockets on the front which a fold-over top to keep water out. Note the new Camo Brown color for men. :: Paul, 03-03-21

REVIT says: The Sand 4 H2O Pants are versatile, four-season pants for ADV touring. The Sand 4 H2O Pants begin with a highly abrasion resistant shell that is more than ready to cope with the rigors of off-road thrills and spills. At the same time, this fully ripstop polyester shell with inserts of 1000D PWR|Shell remains extremely lightweight. The large, cargo-style stash pockets at the hips are flanked by oversized vertical vents. With the inner liners removed, copious direct venting makes the Sand 4 H2O shell up to the task of serious hot weather riding.
