Sizing Information
We measured and tried on a selection of these pants and developed the table below to help you choose a size that is right for you. REVIT publishes a sizing chart but strangely they offer hip measurements rather than waist measurements, and in the US, waist measurements are the norm. Please note, the sizes listed in the chart are NOT “vanity” sized like typical jeans sold in the US (meaning jeans that measure out larger than the stated size), so buying based on a jean size maybe result in a REVIT pant choice that is too small. We recommend you either measure your waist or measure pants you already own (use the instructions below for help in measuring).
These pants are available in regular, short and tall inseam sizes, so we’ve included inseam lengths in the chart as well. The pants have adjustability of the armor height (independent of inseam length). Velcro tabs in the armor pockets allows you to set the armor at different heights in the pant leg. You can check how the armor feels on your knee when you are sitting on the bike and decide which position seems best. Neat!
Also, the pants have an adjustable strap arrangement at the waist to help you fine tune the fit. We are showing a three inch range which was about what the adjusters seemed to do.
Pant Size | Waist Estimate | Inseam Reg | Inseam Short | Inseam Tall |
---|---|---|---|---|
Small | 29-31 | 31.5 | - | - |
Med | 31-34 | 32.5 | 31 | 34.5 |
Large | 33-36 | 33 | 31.5 | 35 |
XL | 35-38 | 33.5 | 32 | 35.5 |
XXL | 38-41 | 33.5 | 32 | 35.5 |
XXXL | 41-44 | 34 | 32 | - |
XXXXL | 43-46 | 34 | - | - |
Measurement tips: You’ll want to measure yourself fairly high up the waist because protective style pants like this are cut to ride higher on your waist than a lot of modern jean styles. Just below the navel is about the right height on the waist for measurement.
Our Two Cents
The Echelon GTX pants from REV’IT! are designed to compliment the Echelon GTX jacket and like the jacket are considered a waterproof, adventure-travel piece of riding gear. Overall construction of the pants is a combination of a 2L nylon 400D GORE-TEX fabric, a 3L nylon 200D GORE-TEX fabric, a 3L GORE-TEX nylon 400D fabric and a soft spacer mesh. This combination of materials has earned the Echelon GTX pants a CE AA rating. Impact protection is provided by the included SEEFLEX CE-level 2 Knee Protectors and SEESMART CE-level 1 Hip Protectors. Low light visibility is added by the laminated reflection bits on the upper legs.
Looking at comfort and convenience, the Echelon GTX pants, like the jacket, are considered a regular fit. Fit plenty of adjustability with the included adjustable waist belt, adjustment tabs at the knees, adjustable protector pockets, and the ability to use Strapper suspenders. Additional features included both a short and long connection zipper, a B-lock button closure front, belt loops, a grip panel at the seat, as well as slit pockets at the hip. Ventilation is a strong suit with zippers at the back and upper legs to help you stay cool when the weather heats up.
The Echelon GTX pants come in at $499.99 at the time of this review, and like the jacket, when you consider the included armor, materials, fit and finish, the price is justified. I think the Echelon line is a solid example of you get what you pay for, meaning that I look at the price and I go hmm this better be good, and then once I put the pants and jacket on I go, ok yeah that makes sense. Much like the jacket, the Echelon pants are very comfortable and again, probably the thinnest pants I have ever worn that are both waterproof and CE AA rated, truly amazing how far riding gear has come. Comfort, mobility, and bulk are all superb on these pants, I do highly recommend checking them out. :: Damir 7/26/24
