Sizing Information

We measured a sampling of these jeans of different waist sizes and find the waist band on these jeans measures out to the stated size. Normally a jean will measure out about 2” larger than its stated size (it’s called vanity sizing). Since this jean actually measures to the stated stated size they will fit about one size smaller than most people expect. So my primary advice would be to buy one size larger jean than you normally wear and you’ll likely find a fit.

If you want to choose a size based upon your waist measurement or the measurement of your favorite jeans, just follow the instructions using the link below to come up with your measured size. And then choose the size in this jean which matches. If you are between sizes, I’d suggest trying the larger since these pants have a very slim overall cut.

The inseam on the size 31 pant measured about 32” and the size 38 pant measured 35” inseam, so the inseams are a bit longer than the average person would buy, but the leg ends are quite tapered and they intend for you to roll them up if needed. In fact, there is a strip of reflective at the cuff which will only show if you roll them up, so I’m sure that is what they had in mind. The height of the knee armor is adjustable so you should be able to find a fit.

Our Two Cents

Spidi’s new Pathfinder Cargo pants are a stylish slim fitting cargo pant made of an abrasion resistant cotton/Cordura blend material. Knee armor is included and hip armor is optional.

Cargo pants aren’t typically slim fitting but these pants are very slim fitting. The material used in these pants is a good looking cotton/Cordura blend with a bit of a shine to them. The Cordura makes the material more “wrinkle free” than plain cotton so even right out of the bag, they look tailored. The fabric has a stretch component too so they’ll be comfortable to wear even though they are a slim fit.

The ends of the legs are very tapered. The end of the cuff measures about 6 1/2” across when laid flat. To get an idea, you can compare that to other jeans/pants you have. As I mentioned in the sizing advice, the inseam lengths are generous and Spidi thinks you’ll roll up the ends of the legs if they are a bit long on you. A lot of European jeans have a reflective stripe built into the pant leg that shows at night only if your cuffs are rolled up so apparently all Europeans think this is a good idea. These pants have that same feature… but get this… only on the left leg. Huh?? I can’t explain that one.

The advantage of cargo pants are the extra pockets and these pants have the two extra hip pockets in addition to the normal front and back pockets. The two rear pockets and the thigh pockets have hidden snaps to keep the flap closed, which is a nice touch.

Armor is provided for the knees as standard. The armor is flexible but has some “heft” so it will give some impact protection in a fall. It installs in the pants through a hidden zipper opening just above the knee. There is Velcro on the armor and in the pocket to so you can adjust the position to fit over your knee properly. Optional matching hip armor is available by taking the link below. Notice on the back waist band there is one horizontal belt look between the two back center ones. That loop is for connecting the pants to jackets that have a loop in the back center.

These are good looking pants with reinforced fabric. In in an upscale European brand like Spidi, I’d expect the price to be more, but I think the pricing here is quite reasonable. I like them! :: Paul, 01-21-20
