Sizing Information

We measured a sampling of these jeans of different waist sizes and lengths and find they measure out smaller than expected. Normally a jean will measure out about 1” larger than its stated size (it’s called vanity sizing). But this jean actually measures about one 1” SMALLER than it stated size. For example, the size 38 jean measures 37” in the waist, which is what we’d expect to see with a size 36 jean that runs true to size. So my primary advice would be to buy one size larger jean than you normally wear and you’ll likely find a fit.

If you want to choose a size based upon your waist measurement or the measurement of your favorite jeans, just follow the instructions below to come up with your size. And then choose a size knowing that these jeans measure out about 1” smaller than the stated jean size.

The inseam on the “regular” inseam jeans was generous at about 34”. The shorts will be about 1 1/2” shorter and the talls will be about 1 1/2” longer.

Our Two Cents

Spidi J-Tracker jeans are a slim cut riding jean with armor in the knees. The material is polyester reinforced cotton denim by Cordura.

These jeans are styled to be very “non-moto” looking. To me, they look and feel very much like standard high quality jeans. The material is a combination of cotton and polyester and the manufacturer of the fabric is Cordura. They basically feel like premium jeans that are mostly cotton. They are remarkably un-wrinkled right out of the package, so I would expect they’ll wash well and look good with regular care (and no ironing). The overall cut, I’d call “slim fit”, but there is an extra panel of material in the crotch area so even though they are slim fit through the thigh and leg, there is some extra room in the seat and crotch so you can sit on a bike comfortably. I think the fit is excellent. To give you an idea of slim the leg is, the size 38 jean (which fits like a 36) measures 7 1/4” at the leg opening which is pretty trim. They will work over lace-up boots, shoes or sneakers very well, but if you have bulky/taller boots, you might want to measure the leg opening of some jeans you wear with the boots currently to see if you think these will work.

Armor is provided for the knees as standard. The armor is flexible but has some “heft” so it will give some impact protection in a fall. It fits through a hidden zippered opening on the side seam of the leg and you can position it easily to fit your body. There is Velcro on the armor and in the pocket to help you get it positioned for you. Optional matching hip armor is available by taking the link below.

I like this style jean and I think the pricing compares favorably against the other jeans in Spidi’s lineup. And there is the added benefit of having long/short selections available. :: Paul, 06-26-19
