While the single layer construction and slim armor makes them feel almost like a “regular” pair of jeans.

  • Single layer construction means less bulk and superior comfort
  • Specially developed Cordura stretch 13oz selvedge denim
  • Adjustable knee armor position with included knee armor
  • Included hip armor
  • CE certified EN 17092-3:2020

Sizing Information

We measured a sampling of these jeans of different waist sizes and lengths and find they are NOT vanity sized which is counter to what you would expect from most other jeans you’d buy these days. They measure out to the stated size at the full stretch of the waist and are pretty true in the length. And of course, these are denim and may shrink just a tad too. The jeans have pockets in the hips for the addition of the SeeSmart hip protectors (see link below). The hip armor is quite thin and flexible so I don’t think they’ll make a difference in the size choice of jeans if you choose to wear them. So my overall advice would be to go up one size from the waist size you normally wear in jeans; you’ll likely find a fit. If you aren’t sure whether your jeans are vanity sized like I’m describing, then either measure your waist where your normal jeans ride or measure your favorite pair of jeans to verify. Again, casual jeans and most riding jeans these days actually measure out about 2” above the stated size but this style does not! You’ll probably find that you measure out a bit bigger than your normal jeans stated size and also the waist of your favorite jeans measures out an inch or two bigger than their stated size. If so, you will be on track following my advice. Or to make it even simpler, just measure those other jeans that you like and find comfortable and whatever they measure out to buy that size!

The inseam lengths measured out about right as compared to the stated size. You may want to choose a longer inseam than your ordinary jeans for a couple of reasons. First, jeans ride up your legs when you sit on a motorcycle so to maintain a good length, you can choose one size longer. Another reason to buy longer with REVIT jeans is the reflective strip they put on the outside seam at the bottom of the legs. That reflective material will only show when the ends are rolled. So with those considerations in mind I’d recommend you buy one size longer than you normally wear. If between sizes, choose the longer.

Our Two Cents

The Lewis Selvedge Tapered Fit Jeans from REV’IT! are a dark blue pair of motorcycle riding jeans that come in only the one color and have a classic 5 pocket jean design. Clearly REV’IT! was going for a more classic or vintage look with these jeans as they were designed to fit in with the vintage, cafe racer, bobber type of crowd, but honestly could work with any type of bike. Overall construction of the jeans is a combination of 13oz CORDURA® selvedge denim with COOLMAX® & THERMOLITE® elements that help aid in comfort. This construction allows the Lewis Selvedge jeans to achieve a CE Level AA abrasion resistance rating while still remaining fairly comfortable and not much thicker or heavier feeling than a regular pair of jeans (yes they do feel heavier and thicker but not by a massive amount) additionally, from a look standpoint, they are easily mistaken for a regular pair of jeans.

Jumping in to protection included are SEESMART CE-level 1 hip and knee protectors (in my opinion any riding jeans over $200 should include both knee and hip armor and I am happy to see that at $259.99 the Lewis Selvedge jeans do). Additional safety features include reflective stripes on the inside of the hem becoming visible when the pant leg is turned up as well as doubled up rear belt loops for the ability to utilize REV’IT!’s Safeway belt accessories. Also a quick point on the knee armor, it is adjustable and upgradable to level 2 (REV’IT! Doesn’t offer level 2 hip armor).

A couple of other items to note, the Lewis Selvedge jeans have a button fly, not a zipper fly (personally I can’t stand button fly’s so I find it important to point that out if you, like me are bothered by it), they have a tapered fit, so they are not overly tight like skinny or slim jeans, but they do get tighter or taper as they go down past the knees and to the ankles. Lastly on sizing I do want to point out that these jeans are NOT VANITY sized, meaning that you don’t get the extra one to two inches in the waist, for example a pair of size 32 waist pants actually measured 31.75 inches so actually even a tad smaller than the actual number, likewise, the inseam listed at 34 measured around 33.25 inches, so just a tad shorter than listed.

Overall the Lewis Selvedge Tapered Fit Jeans from REV’IT! are a solid pair of riding jeans that offer solid style, protection and features and are priced fairly against their competition. I would recommend checking them out as I don’t think they will steer you wrong. My only complaints are the choice of colors or lack there of, the lack of 30 inseam options or shorter inseam options in the larger waist sizes, and lastly the overall slimmer build of these and most of REV’IT!’s jeans. For example if you are built a bit thicker and not usually one that can wear slim or skinny jeans be extra careful when looking at REV’IT! Jeans as they are a bit more “European build” vs for example a Klim jean that is more “American build”. :: Damir 7/2/24
