The Strapper can be connected to the short connection zipper at the back and the specially made hook and loop attachment point on the front side. The suspenders are compatible with a selection of trousers from the REV’IT! collection.

Sizing Information

We measured and tried on a selection of these pants and developed the table below to help you choose a size that is right for you. REVIT publishes a sizing chart but strangely they offer hip measurements rather than waist measurements, and in the US, waist measurements are the norm. Please note, the sizes listed in the chart are NOT “vanity” sized like typical jeans sold in the US (meaning jeans that measure out larger than the stated size), so buying based on a jean size maybe result in a REVIT pant choice that is too small. We recommend you either measure your waist or measure pants you already own (use the instructions below for help in measuring).

These pants are available in regular, short and tall inseam sizes, so we’ve included inseam lengths in the chart as well. The pants have adjustability of the armor height (independent of inseam length). Velcro tabs in the armor pockets allows you to set the armor at different heights in the pant leg. You can check how the armor feels on your knee when you are sitting on the bike and decide which position seems best. Neat!

Also, the pants have an adjustable strap arrangement at the waist to help you fine tune the fit. We are showing a three inch range which was about what the adjusters seemed to do.

Pant Size Waist Estimate Inseam Reg Inseam Short Inseam Tall
Small 29-31 31.5 - -
Med 31-34 32.5 31 34.5
Large 33-36 33 31.5 35
XL 35-38 33.5 32 35.5
XXL 38-41 33.5 32 35.5
XXXL 41-44 34 32 -
XXXXL 43-46 34 - -

Measurement tips: You’ll want to measure yourself fairly high up the waist because protective style pants like this are cut to ride higher on your waist than a lot of modern jean styles. Just below the navel is about the right height on the waist for measurement.

Use as overpants: These pants will likely be used as both overpants over street clothes or as pants over underwear or shorts because many riders will be wearing these in the heat of summer. Since the waist of these pants is relatively high (as discussed above) the waist will ride above the waist line of normal jeans and therefore, I don’t think you will want to up-size with the idea of using them as overpants. But, I would advise that if you are pushing the upper limit of a size or you are between sizes, to choose the larger.

Our Two Cents

The REVIT Tornado 3 pant is the third update of this pant in almost a decade. These pants offer a part-mesh, part-solid shell with a removable thermal and waterproof liner, so these pants can handle a wide range of temps and riding conditions.

Being such a long standing product line, many folks want to know, “what’s different”? With this new pant for 2020, there are only subtle differences. This new style has adjustment straps on the backs of the legs behind the knees to help you adjust the fit of the armor; the styling is upgraded with a fancy reflective panel on the thigh with a REVIT badge (looks sharp); The liner is a bit more sophisticated with an external layer of rubberized material and insulation material behind; and last but not least, the price is less… Yeah!

The Tornado 3 pant could be worn with any jacket, so feel free to do so, but functionally it is a close match to the Tornado 3 jacket and makes the perfect outfit. REVIT’s other best selling jacket is the Airwave 3 jacket/pants. The Tornado and Airwave products share a lot of similarities for hot weather use. The main difference between the two is that the Tornado adds the removable liner and the armor and shell materials in the Tornado are one notch more protective. The Airwave product is great for warm-to-very hot weather, where the Tornado 3 jacket and pants give you more usability in cooler and or wet weather in addition to very hot weather.

The removable liner in this pant is very nice. It is a hybrid garment with a waterproof layer on the outside a slippery nylon material on the inside and a thin layer of insulation in between. It is reasonably thin and won’t throw the sizing of the pants off by much. Some pants offer two liners… one rainproof and one insulated, and while there is potentially more flexibility to mix and match the liners depending on the weather, there are also more snaps and zippers and thickness involved, so personally I like this thinner “combination” liner.

Wearing the pants with the liner removed allows a LOT of airflow through the pants, so you can enjoy these pants in the hottest weather. They aren’t a “full” mesh pant but having solid textile material in the seat and over the knee/shin areas adds a lot of structure to the pant and gives better abrasion resistance should you fall. When I say ‘structure”, I mean that a pant like this with some heavier fabrics will hold the armor in place better at the instant you need it. This pant adds a strap behind the knee to allow adjustment of the fit in that area to improve how well the armor is held in place (same idea). REVIT products are designed with many features to help with safety.

These pants are equipped with knee and hip armor. The knees are fitted with molded CE level 2 armor and the height of the armor in the pant leg is adjustable. And the hips have a very thin and flexible armor, so those should be very comfortable to wear.

At the bottom of the pant leg, there is a zipper that opens up to about 14” from the bottom. That MIGHT be enough to help pull a shoe through, but if you are wearing boots, you’ll need to take them off in order to take the pants off. So these pants aren’t primarily made as an “overpant”, but they could be worn that way. And certainly, they’d be appropriate to wear just as pants over underwear (which would be ideal for hot summer days).

These pants, like many other REVIT pants, are set up to be used with the Strapper Suspenders. If you are a suspenders fan, then grab a set of those, and attach them. You can attach the jacket to the pants with or without the suspenders. And if you wanted to use these pants with any other jacket, the suspenders would be a good option (since you won’t have a compatible zipper in your jacket).

I really like the Tornado jacket and pants by REVIT. The quality and styling are excellent. And with the lower pricing with this new version, they are even better! :: Paul, 01-28-20

REVIT says: With the REV’IT! Tornado 3 trousers, the rider is prepared for almost every kind of weather condition during rides in the spring, summer, or fall. The detachable hydratex®|Lite 2-in-1 liner will keep your legs dry and warm in colder temperatures and bad weather. When riding in higher temperatures, the liner can be removed to allow cool air to flow through the PWR|shell mesh panels at the upper and lower legs. Protection is provided by our award-winning CE-level 2 SEEFLEX™ armor at the knees and SEESMART™ armor at the hips. Making sure you get the perfect fit every time, the rider can easily adjust the trousers via adjustment straps at the hips and tabs on the calves.
