Sizing Information

We checked two jacket from the size run in this jacket with a tape measure and we also asked for opinions from ladies in the office about fit. From both sources of information, we think this jacket runs about one size smaller than the chart indicates. It isn’t surprising really because most men’s jackets run about one size small as well. So my advice would be to measure your chest size, choose a size from the chart, and then choose one size bigger. Alternately, you could choose one size larger than you normally wear in a US women’s clothing size.

Spidi’s standard size chart for women:

Our Two Cents

The Spidi Sigma H2Out Jacket is a women’s protective jacket with the looks of a stylish overcoat. This jacket features a waterproof shell and comes standard with shoulder and elbows armor insert. Back protection is optional.

We don’t see many women’s styles as “dressy” as this one. I can see this jacket being perfect for the rider who dresses sharp and is on her way to work or asocial event. Just by looks, this jacket doesn’t say “motorcycle” at all. Off the bike you’d never know it was a functional and protective piece of riding gear.

The black fabric used is a sturdy textile, but has a nice soft finish to it. Even bringing it right out of the packaging, it doesn’t look wrinkled which gives a dressy, sharp look. The jacket is made waterproof with an inside layer of breathable waterproofing material. The inside is lined with black nylon throughout, so there won’t be any problem pulling the sleeves on over your street clothes. It feels like there is a very thin layer of insulation in the shell itself which makes the jacket lay nice. Also included with the jacket is a separate removable thermal liner you can use in colder weather to add an extra layer of insulation. With the thermal liner along with the standard thinner layer in the shell, this jacket ought to be toasty warm in cooler and cold weather. There aren’t any venting options though, so consider this jacket for cooler/cold months of the year. In the summer, I’m afraid you’d cook.

Armor is included for this jacket in the shoulders and elbows. It is Spidi’s Warrior Lite armor which is relatively light and very flexible. It is rated CE 1. The jacket is fitted with a pocket and Velcro to mount one of the optional back protectors. I’ve listed the option I think would fit best below, and if you click through to the back protector product page, there is a pretty good discussion of the similarities and differences between the back protector options. All those listed will be compatible with the fabric compartment built into the jacket to hold the back protector..

One neat feature for fit on the bike is in the hip area. Down each side, there is a zipper than opens up a pleat to give you about 4” extra room to sit comfortably. In cooler weather, the shell has a taller collar as does the removable liner. A detachable hood is also included.

If you think a dressy jacket is what you need, this one will be one of the few you’ll find anywhere. It is a really nice looking jacket which you can use on or off the bike. :: Paul, 04-23-20

Spidi says: SPIDI Sigma: the urban commuting motorcycle coat studied for women, combining high thermal insulation and extreme lightness. The 3-layer laminated outer fabric with H2Out® waterproof and breathable membrane has the advantage of being very comfortable, allowing this jacket to be worn over casual clothes. The detachable inner thermal jacket makes Sigma perfect for both winter and spring use. The jacket is CE prEN 17092-2:2017 Class A certified thanks to the standard Warrior Light protectors on shoulders and elbows. Level 1 and Level 2 Warrior back protectors are available as options.
